Thanks Brett, but…. Portfolio Strategy: A VC fund usually invests in multiple startups within a portfolio. Out of these, only one or two companies might deliver outsized returns (e.g., 10x, 20x, or even 100x), while the majority either fail outright or provide minimal gains. Risk Mitigation: To offset the losses from failed investments and still achieve an overall profitable return for their investors (known as Limited Partners or LPs), VCs need those few successful companies to generate massive returns, but it depends largely on the industry for those successful few to achieve the VC goal is my point. FB and Google showed 200x on returns given their innovation and disruptive industry potential. So sharing the 30x as a blanket desire by VCs without stating the potential industry expectation is a little misleading and adds a lot of extra pressure to consider 🤷🏻♂️

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

I’ve been forced to find additional sources of income as I got retrenched. I barely have time to continue trading and watch my investments since I had my second daughter. Do you think I should take a break for a while from the market and focus on other things or return whenever I have free time or is it a continuous process? Thanks...

I have been watching this video, and honestly, it is a solid guide on crafting pitch emails. It is critical to have a reliable email tool, especially for startups. Mystrika is what I have been using for about six months now, and it truly simplifies the process. The analytics they provide are on another level compared to others I have tried. You really should take a look at it if you want things done right.

It’s also validation you’re on the path. Plus you get to watch how they do it and let them prove the concept. Investors tend to be dubious of unproven ideas, so indeed they could be doing you an inadvertent favor…

I had left out my "exit strategy," and investors kept asking, "What is your exit strategy?" So, I put it back in my pitch deck.
@BrettFoxstartupceo13 күн бұрын
What is your exit strategy is a trick question. I wouldn't do that because investors already know what your exit strategy is . They want you focused on building your company, not the exit.

I disagree on one point. dcf is the core of all valuation technics, either consciously or unconsciously. I would not nullify it so. no investment is made without being mainly based on future cash flow prospects. in some, cash flows are instant and in some, it is projected only in exit as one lump some in 10 years. this does not mean the valuation is not based on ecf. the only difference is the scheme and the timing of the cash flow.

How do start ups protect themselves and their products without NDAs or some sort of similar legal document? Are we simply trusting the investors?
@BrettFoxstartupceo16 күн бұрын
It's a great question. The investors aren't the problem. You're much more likely to have an issue with a co-founder or employee. That's who you need to protect yourself from.
