To be fair Ash was winning against both Erika and Misty before Team Rocket shenanigans. Also Ash defeated Jessie and James who were acting gym leaders of viridian at that time. All 3 of Giovanni's Pokemon ran away and refused to battle, and Arbok and Weezing were sent flying. I'd say it counts.

I love Oilpup but err ... The main and confirmed theme for all water starters is that they're based off of semi-aquatic/amphibious animals (Inteleon is based off a basilisk lizard primarily) 😅 Then again, it's a fakemon, so who the heck cares... 🤷‍♂️

@@Rose-yx6jq well dracovish's in particular refers to its jaw, which is only present on the -vish half, and legs which are from the draco- half, making it an apex predator. This implies that they were a package deal from the start, so I don't think it's referring to individual components

A possible reason for Archen’s extinction could be the species simply evolved into new ones the darwinian way, leading to the older Archen & Archeops going extinct as its descendants took over. This happened a lot and still does in nature.
