As a long-term fan of Legendtina, it's still interesting to me to hear her influences one by one. It makes me understand her sound more and more. Didn't really know she was influenced by Patti and Gladys too. But since you made this, I'm starting to hear the similarities.

Thank you for this. ❤ It is true that she's the best white Soul vocalist that ever existed. She literally sang her ass of in those videos. No matter how much they invalidate her talent because of her unconventional technical choices, her capabilities still can't be denied. She still has a very wide range, an amazing agility, and a very powerful voice that is very textured.

This video was made for the people to fully understand Christina Aguilera's sound. With her wide range, powerful voice, beautiful tone, extreme agility & musicality, untouchable versatility, great control & dynamics, emotive storytelling, and her gritty vocals, Christina Aguilera is undoubtedly the best White Soul singer of this generation. With her very petite figure, it’s really amazing how she can support that distinct big soulful sound for over 2 decades in her career considering the fact that she did not grow up in a Black church. She is dubbed as “The Voice Of This Generation” and the “Small White Girl W/ A Big Black Soulful Voice”. Enjoy this compilation as you also learn more about the influences behind her unique soulful vocals.

I dont think Christina ever cared about proper technique at least from the time she became famous moving forward. All she cared about was sounding as "big" as possible and her runs because of personal styling. Little did she know she could've achieved so much more with that voice if she put her ego aside and actually trained. Now its far too late as her poor technique already sticked too much.

She’s a vocalist so dancing has never been a skill she cared enough to hone but she was always solid at it. She sings live and doesn’t have the luxury to dance in depth unlike most other performers who just lip sync. Notably, most of those performers struggle to dance & can barely do 2 steps when they have to sing live bc they can’t sing & dance at the same time whereas Christina in her genie days was singing live & doing full choreo at the same time. So even if her dancing itself was never on the level of Janet Jackson, she has always had solid stamina & potential as an overall performer. In Burlesque she really focused on her dancing and it shows. She delivered great performances as a dancer but unfortunately she let go after that.

If anything, Xtina is the epitome of not switching gear or the refusal to do so as the notes go higher. This is partly due to her poor technique and also her attempt to sound big and loud. The 'gear' here is equivalent to 'mixed voice technique'. What happens to your car when you remain at low gear but keep on increasing the speed simultaneously? Exactly.

Singing is a talent and an art. It doesn't matter if the voice she uses is fake or natural, it's still her voice that comes out of her. What's important is how she uses it to make it colorful and, above all, beautiful. This is where the skillfulness and versatility of a singer is shown.

I mean, multiple things can be true at once. Is she the highest/lightest pop Soprano out there ? Definitely not. Is her belting range limited because of her chesty placement ? Definitely yes. Does she have as high a tessitura as Ariana Grande ? Most likely not. Does she have as low a tessitura as Beyoncé/Jojo though ? I don't think so. I get that people exaggerate the idea of her voice being light, but I personally do still think that a classically trained Xtina would have been a clear cut Soprano and _might_ even have qualified for coloratura training. PS : Pulling of the larynx, throatiness and tensions are not at all a sign of a singer being outside of their natural tessitura. Most untrained singers do in fact strain a lot throughout their entire range. Not because they're not XYZ voice type, but because they're untrained.
@littlebeytinamonster5775
@littlebeytinamonster5775 4 күн бұрын
I also believe that Xtina's voice can reach and sustain higher notes with vibrato if only she mixed more. But the real issue here is the mixing and not the lack of support. She's actually supporting enough. Sometimes, even too much because she's already pushing her chest voice/chest-dominant mix. I think the point of the video is she has to mix more than Regine and Charice did just to hit the same notes with ease. So it's pretty clear that she's not the light voiced Soprano with a high tessitura like Ariana as what they claim her to be. I believe that the pulling out of the larynx is due to pushing her chesty mix outside her comfort zone. She's actually supporting enough and even too much. Her voice is just naturally not that high. If she mixes more and changes her placement, I believe that she will be able to sustain the upperbelts with more ease. I also think that her low notes were underdeveloped during her 20's and 30's due to stylistic choices and lack of training, but I really believe that her tessitura is really not that high. There are just a lot of factors that made it sound lighter than it is. Her natural voice actually reminds me a lot of my deep voiced sister. They have like an identical timbre.
@littlebeytinamonster5775
@littlebeytinamonster5775 4 күн бұрын
I also believe that habitually speaking in a high pitched false voice affected her lower range too. Because I believe that her low notes can still be fuller, louder, and darker if only she used a proper technique.

I've been saying the same shit. Anyone with a working voice meaning you're not mute, can experiment with different voice changes and see thedropped larynx singing to thicken her voice doesn't make sense. Christina just has a nice full round voice that has gotten deeper over the years, especially after giving birth. She aint the only one with a beautiful full voice. But her's is one of the nicest.
@emmanv.1314
@emmanv.1314 3 күн бұрын
she stylistically lowers her larynx too as you can see in the part 2 of the video to further add thickness and weight to her voice, but her voice in neutral larynx is still somehow full. not as light as what they always say it is.

All notes above E5 for woman are mixed in some extent
@littlebeytinamonster5775
@littlebeytinamonster5775 4 күн бұрын
Actually even before E5, there is already a bit of mixing for women's voices. I think the point of this video is that if Xtina was truly a high and light Soprano like what these so-called youtube vocal critics are claiming then she wouldn't have a hard time sustaining the upperbelts without mixing that much just like how Regine, Charice, and even Jessica Simpson (who has a worse technique than Xtina) did it. Xtina is not a stranger to the technique of supporting too as you can see in her middle range so it's definite that her voice is not as light and as high as what other people claim it to be. By just judging her chest timbre and tessitura in a neutral larynx, her voice is definitely fuller, darker, and heavier than Regine's, Charice', and Ariana's. So it's really impossible for her to be the lightest and the highest Soprano like what they claim.

Misinformation. Some women like Tori Kelly, Ariana Grande, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey actually belts (pulling up chest voice) above E5.

The parts labeled as her public voice, and true speaking voice aren't necessarily "unnatural". They're just her speaking in different placements. When she's in quieter settings, she uses more of a mask/face placement when she's speaking. Which naturally causes a lighter/brighter tone. The videos that you labeled her "True speaking voice" is her speaking to an audience so she has to project.

It's so interesting to me how people in the comments mention Leona Lewis because I noticed while listening to Leona's songs like ,"I'm You" or "Happy" especially during climaxes that she has a lot of vocal similarities with her belting and natural tone to Christina but only without all the added weight and grit that the latter has.

I think Xtina is one of those cases whose voice doesn't really a little bit or at all cater to the genre she sings. Her songs are really mostly sung with grit and in high larynx which I dont think her voice doesn't really shine there.
@johnharrison3281
@johnharrison3281 4 күн бұрын
I don't think she was intentionally trying to be raspy tho during her debut. She was growling, yes, but obviously she was trying to sound smooth in songs like "Reflection" and "Genie In A Bottle". It's just that her larynx really close because there was no enough supporting (considering the fact that she was so skinny and almost muscles at all) and also because she wasn't mixing the notes that are obviously outside the natural tessitura of her chest voice already. In "Stripped" era, the rasp was intentional and her techniques have changed too. She started opening her mouth wider, dropping her jaw and supporting more since she gained enough muscle mass to support her diaphragm in lifting her voice. That's why in "Stripped" era, you would hear her belts more open but raspier too. But during her debut era, it really was just a technical issue that is definitely not stylistic. The way she sung "I Turn To You" and "Reflection" with an overraised larynx in her live performances was obviously not a stylistic choice. Her tessitura is really not as high as what other people claim.

@@samuele.duclosel2811 I'm not sure if she's a high Mezzo with underdeveloped techniques in the upper and lower range or if she's a Soprano with a lower tessitura & some Mezzo facilities. But she's clearly not a high & light Soprano like Regine, Charice, or Ariana.

Now that she has gained the amount of vocal thickness that she always wanted since her debut, I hope that she would be a bit more technical in her singing now. I want to hear her sing her songs with the full lyrics and give us higher climaxes in her new songs. That new mixed F5 was really good. I hope she can use that in her new songs and that she would really a bit more technical with her singing in the next few years. I don’t want her potential to be wasted. She’s so talented.
