Since the Titan sub disaster I get Stockton Rush vibes from Peter. The 'I'm right because it's my idea' attitude, backed up by inaccurate (or no) data and limited testing. Peter was lucky to come out of Raptor 1 in one piece, and now he's upped the stakes and he's going again. Thanks for this serious and calm proof that physics can't be reorganised to suit your sales targets.

I understand the technical scope of this a a bit more extensive than your typical homebuilt, but it's really not that earth-shattering as an airplane. I respect anyone who designs and builds and flies his own aircraft but it's still just a big homebuilt with multiple engines. Kudos to the reduction drives, glad he didn't use Eggenfeller junk. I guess the appeal is somewhat similar to building scale models, but I cannot imagine the pilot sitting in there thinking to himself: "Wow, I' really flying a B-29!" So yes, I admire the achievement, but I'll never quite get the point of scaled down look-alikes.

Are the landing gears retractable? The B-29 in full scale or Tom's 35% scale B-29, is always a graceful bird because of its wingspan. Good to see Tom's bird in takeoff and landing.

Enola Gay saved 1000's of allied POW's from doom they could not have survived a few more months/year the fatality rate was just shy of 30%. Everytime I see a B29 ( Never Seen one in Real life ) I always think of Enola Gay and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark .

My Dad was a flight engineer on board B-29 with the 20th USAAC and I was able to fly in FIFI and went on to see DOC the only two still airworthy , they are truly beautiful and to hear them start up is wonderful, Dad would fly from IWO JIMA to JAPAN and back with over 400 29’s in formation!!!!!!!!! What great men they were! THE GREATEST!

Few people realize or appreciate the freedoms our aviation culture here in America provides. Nowhere else are the skies so accessible or the freedom to innovate so prevalent.
