NO COUNTRY HAS TO “DOMINATE” THE WORLD! NO COUNTRY HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL OTHER COUNTRIES HOW TO RUN THEIR AFFAIRS! NO COUNTRY HAS THE RIGHT TO INTERFERE IN OTHER COUNTRIES! ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR COUNTRY IS ALL FUCKED UP!

Multipolarity = new Centuries of Humiliation. No country is more dependent on maritime access to resources and markets than China, and no country has to sail further and past more hostile countries to reach those resources and markets than China. The thing about a maritime trade route is that it’s like a road or railroad or a water pipe or a wire carrying electricity. These things only function when they are intact for their entire length. In the unipolar world, the unipolar power ensured that maritime trade routes stayed intact. Unipolar = one power = easy to get consensus for keeping maritime trade routes intact and unfettered. The US has kept maritime trade running without interruption for 80+ years and counting. That changes in a multipolar world. It is inherently more difficult to get consensus when more decision makers are involved. And there is good reason to think that a consensus on keeping maritime trade running is inherently unstable. For starters, where a country like China only lost control over low value waters to the US, some countries have had to give up much, much more. Consider the value of trade that runs through China’s natural maritime sphere of influence vs the value that flows through India’s natural sphere of influence. China gained much more from US hegemony than India. In addition, India is much less of a trading nation than China, and where China is heavily reliant on maritime trade with countries far beyond its natural sphere of influence, India’s maritime trade is much more closely aligned with its sphere of influence. Oil from the Middle East, Iron ore from Australia. Ag products to the Middle East. Manufactured goods to and from SE Asia. Call center services to the West go over the internet. Medications to the West would remain profitable even if they had to be transported by airplane. For India, it is likely to be in its best interests to seize control of trade within its natural sphere of influence. They had to give up more than they got in return when the US seized the oceans and shared them out with everyone. In addition, there’s the dynamics at play. What happens when one country starts to interfere with trade and gets away with it?Will other countries just sit back and do nothing while they watch that country profit? Nah. They’ll join the bandwagon and take what they can get. They don’t have the power to stop the first country from acting within its natural sphere of influence, and they’re not going to just sit idly by while other countries squeeze out profits as they slowly strangle maritime trade to death. They’ll definitely do what they can to extract as much profit as they can within their own natural spheres of influence before the trade dries up completely. Multipolarity is inherently incompatible with freedom of navigation and globalization. And without freedom of navigation and globalization, China ends up starved of resources and access to markets. Multipolarity means a return to pre-industrial subsistence agriculture for the Chinese. Pre-industrial countries do not match up well against industrialized rivals. Multipolarity therefore means a return to new Centuries of Humiliation.

Wow, that was dumbest book I've ever read. What you fail to realize is china is the #1 trading partner to over 100 countries. They control over 100 ports. Bri connects china to Germany by rail. The only country in the world that wants to fight with them is America. So if they can fight that fight, they have nothing to worry about.

Trump's not even conscious of the shift Rubio professes to recognize. Hes just a transactional deal-maker who is taking things one deal at time. It means it would be a mistake to expect a coherent body of diplomatic work.

Its not good for the world to have a hegemony because that state will always abuse its position to its own advantage even at the detriment of other countries, which is what we've seen from the US over the last 50 or more years. China is the blessing the world has been waiting for inorder to restore balance

I've never seen Rubio so calm & coherent. Normally the guy is tense, full of spite & ranting about destroying the evil Cuban commies for the good of the poor, oppressed zombie islanders. I still believe the latter is his true character. He wants to be king of the new casino Cuba.

China has become weak under Xi. The Chinese economy is faltering. The PLA and the military industrial complex is corrupted. The US dominance may be over, but China needs to step up and get rid of Xi to achieve the "great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation."

I think the U.S. still wants to be the one who tells everyone what to do, and their 800 plus military bases still shows they want to be in charge by using military power in smaller countries. I think their Military defense and CIA don't want to give up their secret projects all over the world for destruction and tried to destroy the peace, so they can maintain their old powers and prevent other rising countries. It is not a cohesive U.S. government. The politicians say one thing, but allow the CIA to do the Opposite. The U.S. is pretty sneaky!!!
