Earl Grant is known mostly for his instrumental recordings, but the few times he recorded VOCALS, it was MUSIC MAGIC!! "The End" was his only Top 10 Hit. "Imitation Of Life" was another fantastic song, not even Nat "King" Cole could have done any better. The absolute MOST collectible is "Hide Nor Hair". Simply THE BEST!!!

I met Dave Withers in a dive bar in New York maybe 10 years ago. I asked him about the TOTW reaction to the unreleased Motown gems. He was vague as his memory was hazy….maybe we had drunk too many Stellas ….. a very friendly and diffident person.

"Function in the Junction" is the name of the short film, in case anyone was curious as to where the clips of dancing came from. Steve Cato is the man in the fabulous afro.

I'm 75 currently at The Paradiso Hotel Ibiza, fed up with Ministry of Sound rubbish all day l went for a chat with the Pool DJ. He was a young lad from Manchester whose Grandad (l felt old) used to go to The Wheel back in the day. I asked if he had any proper sound's and he pulled out a stick saying, no requests, as it comes, l'll stick this on for my last 20 minutes ... great! 6 by 6, Earle van Dyke Devil in Blue 👗 Mitch Ryder Hey Little Girl, Major Lance Heaven Sent You, Elgins and Just a Little Misunderstanding 👍 There were 12 Brits, 2 Swedes, 4 Dutch and a mardy arsed French couple all up dancing 🎶 🎵 Kid looked pleased saying l'll try this more often 😂

I was forever blessed one night to meet this legend who was sitting in my audience at Ashford & Simpson. He introduced himself & invited me to a show of his. After attending Tony's show, I was blown away when I heard him sing. After that night? I was hooked. On the Tony Middleton Train. I went to many of his performances & learned so much from him. He even called me up at his shows & asked me to sing. I blessed to have known you sir. Missing you. You changed the world with your sensational voice & gifts! Thank you for all of your generosity & contributions to the world Tony Middleton!
