These views on energy and politics are ignorant right wing empty narratives. No one with any sense has ever claimed you can run a city on on wind and solar. At this point in time you need NG for heating and industry. The real question is can you limit how dependent on NG you are? That is the entire point. Also no we could NEVER get resource independent. Not as long as we are a capitalist economy. The refineries don't process US oil grades and the largest refinery in the US is owned by the Saudi's to begin with. This entire narrative is based on not explaining all the details. Once you look at all the details it melts away. Just like his comment about Trump and 'drill baby drill'. Yep Exxon doesn't want to do that, who produces oil? The US government or Exxon? Pure ignorance.

The world's governments keep the population focused on everything wrong with their lives instead of allowing them to focus on how to fix the problem-likely because the governments are the problem. Choose your team (D) or (R), but in reality, they are just the uni-party, and neither is educating the people on reality. It is better for the government to keep people focused on everything that is wrong. Stand above your brainwashing and learn about economic driving forces.

Look at every autocracy. Eventually people in the government are running every major business for personal gain. The people of a country need to be able to expel the leaders. The leaders need to weaken democracy to keep control. Eventually it all goes wrong.

Is Germany going to elect/"re-elct" in effect, leaders who will again make sure the country has no inexpensive reliable elctricity/energy? They desperately need coal, LNG, nuclear back and drop the whole woke global warming religion.

I have some issues with Polomny's rationale. My main issue has to do with economic stagnation in Europe and loss of manufacturing in the US. Both have to do with the same thing, in my view: a notion of welfare state and the made up rules these societies developed to make everyone in their population believe they are rich. And so, if you are rich, you expect high wages, less working hours, plenty of holidays, wages that never fall and only go up, 13th salaries, vacations, etc etc etc...The problem is society becoming less productive and much less willing to work as a Chinese worker does and a society addicted to free stuff. This all results in higher taxes for everyone and fewer kids which further compounds the problem. It looks to me that it will get much worse before it gets any better. But it is totally reversible. The difficulty in reversing decades on the wrong path is that this will be painful and thus, politically challenging.

In my opinion, gold, in recognizable coin form, which can be stored privately (E.G. in your backyard for example) has two important characteristics. The government need not know that you own it, and it is presently, likely, in a bull market.

John hits the nail when it comes to Germany. What he is missing to say is that the USA is hurting Europe, not Russia. He rightly sees that the US blew up Northstream, fails to mention that this is terrorism. And the kicked and spit at liege called Germany accepts that. Dark times...
