My understanding is that most utilities have fully contracted their needs for the next 3 years. I get the math of the supply minus demand shortfall but how do you reconcile that with the utilities already having contracted their short term needs?
@inittowinit928Ай бұрын
@@AdamTV You’re right. But they are also having to secure inventory beyond that. They contract their need many years out. If you run the math long enough, someone doesn’t get their fuel. That will cause a squeeze.

40:33: ".... Somair.... the french just annouced that the they lost control of that mine". It's not that simple. There's a dispute between Orano and the Somair (the JV operating company in Niger) regarding continued operation. Orano want to stop operating the mine. Somair want to continue operating the mine. Somair continued in spite of Orano's demand to stop mining operatings. Orano then made an *independent* decision to withdrawal. They were not pushed out. They were put in a difficult position because the mined uranium is still export restricted. But not explicitly pushed out.

If 30-40 m # production shortfall..does that translate into 7.5-10m shortfall in US?

That math works if it was evenly distributed. But it will eventually just go to the highest bidder.

Doubling the nuclear power rate is not really energy independent if you only produce 1% of the fuel.

I don't know where commodities are going, but I do know that Nvidia, the high flying AI giant that everyone has loved, is going down from here. Who knows where it will land. But to be honest, I'll be watching because if it gets cheap enough, I'll be a buyer. Sorry- it's not a commodity, but it's one of a kind, and we can't ignore the AI story.

Hi Steve - did you get my question about uranium recycling by Orano? over 1000 tons a year - at 95 of recouperable uranium/plutonium. If this capability increases, won't this have a big impact on supply *and* address the issue of spent nuclear fuel??

Here is the thing with regards to Russian conversion and enrichment. Even if the import ban is lifted, who is it to say the Russians will be dealing withe the West at all? Wouldn't it be more reasonable if they were to deal exclusively with China and India? With the current reactor buildout in Asia, I doubt Russia will have excess capacity for uranium processing when comes to the the Western markets. Anyhow as an investor in the uranium market for the long term, this bifurcation of the global uranium market can only be seen as a positive our investments.
