Good info, what Im looking for is the functionality to log the flight path on a map and altitude. I belong to a rc club and would like a reference to where our flight boundaries are from the pilots stand viewpoint. To record it and view it after flight would be ideal. Any thoughts?

Are there any rules that prevent people from harassing wildlife with drones? I would hope there is some fine or deterrent to prevent someone from doing that.

There are laws on the books that do just that but they are not FAA rules, but most of the time local rules, usually by state. Some areas like national parks for instance wildlife harassment is a federal rule, so this exists nearly everywhere in one way or another...

FPV lag or control lag? Regardless, I didn't notice anything that hurt my feelings during flights. I have flown a couple different brands that had maybe a half a second control lag and it is a bit unnerving and you can tell right away. Nothing caught my attention on this one...

What other type of mount would be needed besides the 3M tape, Velcro or tie-wrap/strap mounts that Ruko offers for free in this kit? Seems like a lot of ways to get it attached to the drone... 🤷♂

In the "Flying recreational under part 107" section, he doesn't directly address whether a part 107 pilot can fly recreational without remote ID.

If you are flying recreationally under part 107, then RID and registration is required regardless of drone weight. If you are part 107 but decided to fly recreationally under USC 44809, then RID is not needed AS LONG AS the drone being flown is not registered. If the drone is registered for any reason (required or not) then RID is needed. RID is directly tied to registration regardless of part 107 or 44809 recreational. Registration=RID. The only exception to this is if you fly in a FRIA zone, then no RID is required.

@@AlienDrones Thank you so much! To clarify my understanding, when you say under part 107, you mean as a part 107 license holder or for commercial shoot? I'm assuming I would have to have a different FPV drone for unregistered non-commercial use as a license holder.

@@stellarmediacollective7953 Yes, part 107 is the FAA part 107 certificate typically used for commercial work. Indeed, if you already have a drone registered under part 107 and if you wanted to use it for 44809 recreational use and not have RID on it, then you could un-register it or yes, use a different drone.

There's a couple that are comparable, 1 is the Potensic ATOM kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYKXYWywZaqprJY and the other is the HoverAir kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpLWi3WehbqjbNE which if your priority is good follow, something like this is what you really want. To be honest the FAA makes it so confusing, and have the excuse, "we leave it vague for your benefit". If we have law enforcement or a karen they will always use the vagueness against us pilots.

I just purchased my first drone. It’s a DJI mini four Pro. It hasn’t been in any small way the fact that they’re talking about banning them that I Did buy one. Was just noticing on the bottom of the box, they’re now made in Malaysia. Does that circumvent their rule for China?

Unfortunately not. The PITA government just started an official investigation into Anzu robotics, who is owned and operated in the US and licensed the technology from DJI and building it in Malaysia. The gov is saying that it is an attempt to get around the proposed ban, so there is precedent that everyone will be hunted down that is remotely connected to CCP tech...
