I didn't see the video, I was just listening to it while potting up some plants that just arrived. I hope I didn't miss anything important.

I did put mine Phals in selfwatering 1 year ago. It took time to transfere, but now, they do great! Only 1 didn't make it. And 1 i bought 6-7 years ago. A small one didn't grow good, and never flowered finaly come with a spike. I also have 2 transferes to full water( keikes so they have never ben in anything) but as EJ say, you need Pumice!

No ‘goedkeuring’ yet, 😂 pebbles/stones do not wick. I only use pebbles as a top layer (the layer is about 2 - 3 cm) all the rest is pumice. Pumice is a wicking material. The water needs to be soaked/wicked into the whole pot. If this works with only pebbles it is because the high humidity in the pot but I am afraid it will not work this way, especially in summer. I would try at least one or two in pumice (or lecca) with a top layer of stones… and best is to start a reservoir when the plant is growing new roots, otherwise you probably will lose the old root system. How old is he? My cat did that, got sleepy/lazy and became very loving and friendly. Then one day, he left and never came back. He was about 18 years old or so, was really starting to look old. I assume he found a hiding hole and went to sleep and just kept on dreaming forever.

I found a spike today and to say I am excited about it is an understatement. I bought a Lycaste Phoebe x Zygonisia Cynosure a few months ago. It arrived with no roots but quickly put up new growths and laid down a nice root system. I didn't know if it would bloom like the Lycaste (on mature growth) or Zygo (on immature growth) but now I know, it does it on mature growth but with a Zygo type spike. Eagerly waiting to see what the blooms will look like. Also, since tomfumby thinks the only thing I talk about with you is my netflix choices, I do not recommend "The Haunted Mansion" 2023 version. Better than the Eddie Murphy crapfest, and it does have Danny Devito, but still not great.
