Good informative Ynse. No mounts for me...only windowsills in my living situation.

I will think about a selfwatering mount for the windowsil growers 😁It should be possible

Thanks. I would love to have more than 2 mounts but it’s difficult when growing in a house.

Thinking about a working self watering mount 😁

What orchids do good on mounts? Hmmm good question! I think it depend alot of what conditions you grow. Alot of Dendrobiums do it really good in pots, and some best on mounts. I would never dreem of potting my Loddigesii or senile. Then there are those that grow almost barerooted, like my Tolumnia variagata. For that you need a high humidity in the room, around 70+. But then they also do really good. I would never mount a Phalaenopsis!

My Loddigesii are doing horrible, I have two, one came from you, not sure which one but I'm not good with them. Senile is out of the question 😁My Tolumnias are doing fine (both came from you) And Phals on a mount do wonderful here

My chrysantum is starting with the buds, when it’s in bloom I will do a video on it and measure the cane. It must be over 2 meters long. And it looks like I will have more blooms than ever before. But, not all the notes will develop most times I saw in previous years….

Mine is still very young and the green cane it has is still growing. I'm expecting fireworks next year 😁

@@YnseSchaap who knows! I did have some keiki's blooming. They were potted up. But not all, some put more energy in growing and adjusting first.

@@TheOrchidSaGa I will do the feely test and see if the nubbins are coming 😁

I would recommend against mounting any of the massive Dens, like moschatum or lasianthera, unless you live in a tropical climate and can mount them to a tree. They are otherwise impossible to accommodate on a normal cork mount because you've got canes that grow up to 6 feet/1.8 m long and they don't grow upright or pendant but somewhere between. In a pot you can at least stake them so they take vertical space but not much horizontal.

I have a Chrysanthum I got it from the Orchid saga, his is at least 6 ft long (if not longer) I hope mine stays a bit smaller. But that Moschatum looks really nice (bit like a Paph) And I got my Anthurium Warocqeanum (tiny tiny)
@michaelmccarthy40772 ай бұрын
@@YnseSchaap if only moschatum blooms lasted like a Paph. Three days, that's it. It is usually better to get them tiny tiny, big ones usually throw a fit being shipped.

@@michaelmccarthy4077 I don't think I can get it here. So weird that some species don't come on the market here in Europe, same as some species don't come on the US market

@@YnseSchaap Yes a lot of good tips. I did grow an oncidium once on a mount and it was happy but I wasn't, too much effort keeping it damp and when you go away for a few days!
@YnseSchaap2 ай бұрын
@@MoreChannelNoise It is a lot of work. For vacations I have the Sister System but that's just a spray every other day 😁
