Fascinating! Questions: Does the Knapper know what shape the stone will give up, or can anything be extracted, depending on skill? Does Mr Thornberry collect those very fine flakes for surgeons and (what? Chef cooks? Wood carvers?) other users? Thank you very much Mr Thornberry, and will you make other videos using different stone?

I got the ones you have a link and they were too thin, is there any other you'd recommend to do this?

You explain things in the most simple terms, but I’m not left handed so I was having a hard time since I’m a visual learner. I screen recorded the video and mirror flipped it in my gallery, then I was able to get the visual I needed to get it done :b thank you for explaining so thoroughly and I’m glad left handed people can get the visual with your videos, you’re the only one I’ve seen work weaves from right to left!

You don’t have to solder ?

So I’m following the directions exactly as done. However it won’t sit right and loses its shape in a way that makes it hard to get the pattern back. Is there any tips on how to deal with this?

Just started watching some Napping Videos and I'm amazed. I'm going to look for someone in my area of South Carolina that is into this fascinating art form. Just curious,........what does dulling the edge with the rock do?

Thanks so much. Very clear videos and I love that you tell us about costs and what you sell for. Happy Christmas! 🎄

If you slow this vid to half speed and really watch what direction those rings are lying in, at 0.31 seconds, and make sure your blue jump ring is opened backwards, like the demo, it works a dream. As I'm working in all silver, I oxidised the open silver rings to make 'blue' ones. This worked really well.

I work mainly in sterling silver, and solder rings shut, can you this with this weave??

So would there be about 680 rings excluding the neck chains?

You're too fumbly n distracting at the start...i had to just wait till you were done to see what it looked like as a pattern. Sometimes when it comes to "how to" instructions, less mouth is more.

I watched this a few years back and made a length and connected a smaller style (that I can't remember the style) to make something like a chain whip. Now I wanted to make a jump rope with this style, but i couldn't remember the name. Or at least, I'm pretty sure this is the one. I'll have to make some and compare it to what I've already made. Either way, I'm glad I found this, possibly again.

I know the video is old but it really helped me. Thank you so much. I've been struggling with making the right pattern and it turns out it was the rings facing wrong direction all the time xdd

Took me two days to figure out how to finish this because the end of the video is so hard to follow. You did no explaining other then "weave them like so" and did the worst job of showing how to do it. Your hands are shakey, blocking the shot, and you move the piece off camera. You do this part too fast and don't give a good view of what's happening. Luckily I figured out my own way of finishing the piece.
@astronikae22606 ай бұрын
This was very helpfull. You didn't go to fast and didn't overexplain. The two different colors of the rings were a great idea for visualising it. Also, I hope this doesn't sound crazy, but I think you have a voice that is very nice listening to as well and that helps me a lot personally... Thumbs up👍 Hat mir gefallen 😉
TY. Just what I was searching for since seeing them in Nantucket! Nice!

I am in the process of making a digital brush using the 4-1 chainmail. Having seen quite a few chainmail photos I was confident to make the brush. Having now watched your video a few times and actually seeing constructing the chainmail, I'm in a better position to make the digital brush. Many thanks for making and sharing this video. 👍👍👍
