Interested in starting some chain maille, where is a good place to buy rings, and what are the best sizes to start with?
@timshaw82047 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, to start off I'd suggest learning European 4-1 pattern. I like 16g 1/4" rings in bright aluminum, or 16g 5/16" (like the ones in this video). You can also buy galvanized steel wire (usually sold for electric fencing in 17g) and roll it around a dowel to make your own rings.

What are the ring measurements in mm? According to google: Quarter of an inch = 6,35mm (Outer or inner diameter?) 16 gauge = 1,2mm Has someone tried this with these? Does it work well?

I really enjoyed this video thank you and a great step-by-step demonstration. I have one question for you... What kind of pliers are you using and where did you get them from? I'm finding the ones that I'm using are too thick for the gauge of rings that I'm using and I'd like something a little bit more precise like you have. I look forward to hearing from you

Hi, Tim. Just checked out your facebook page last night and saw some designs that I'm looking forward to making myself. I particularly like the earrings made out of graduated sized rings. Question regarding jump ring sizes: In the above tutorial for the byzantine, you stated you used 20-gauge 1/8" rings for the rainbow pattern. What is the inside diameter, i.e. 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, etc? Aspect ratio can be kind of confusing. Thanks
@timshaw82047 жыл бұрын
Hey Cindy, thanks for the comment and checking out my Facebook page! The inside diameter is actually 1/8", so the aspect ratio is 4.1. Let me know if this answers your question!
