Piper's invincibility is better because Wyatt stops from taking any damage whatsoever. Cole just tanks everything, which is admittedly very entertaining when he's getting blasted into everything close by.

This is the season of complete character destruction of Cole. This is supposed to be a guy that has 115 years of experience and a laundry list of powers that could decimate even the Charmed Ones - Naturally, a duel is going to reduce him to just throwing energy balls. Charmed got increasingly lazy after S3 to the point the show cannot even make the "serious" situations more than a low budget joke fest.
