Brother, as a fellow kiter, I appreciate brands pushing innovation in our sport. The locking mechanism (a.k.a Ratchet System ) and micro-adjustments on the water are promising features of this harness. However, I have some concerns about the soft padding that you claim can be rolled up. This might be challenging in practice ( especially on big air), as we've seen similar issues with other brands in the past, like when Mystic introduced their spreader bar GEN 3 to address rider complaints. l be keeping an eye on this product. I'd be more inclined to purchase once there's more feedback from riders of various skill levels. Keep up the good work. Additionally , Non-water absorbing option would give this harness an edge. Many kiters are tired of taking that harness out of their car to avoid dodgy smell. Have that in mind.

For all those Americans who don't like metric, 100kg is a big guy and 50kg is a petite woman. Now can we all use something that has relevance to volume. 100kg = 100Litres of water, what could be easier.😮 10 gallons of water is 83.3 pounds ,WTF.

😂 Blame the schools. We don’t learn metric until college chem. 💀 Good reference points.

I have difficulty getting consistently into surface wrapped due to tension on the lines. Is it kite position, not going downwind sufficiently or is the kite too powered? What size kite are you using here? Thanks for another great tutorial!

You will struggle the first few sessions so just ride it out as long as possible. Focus on your edge and controlling the kite. Don’t sweat getting pulled out fast in the early stages.

@@ryanrygogoloversic8826 Finless did the trick! I'm now running out of speed in wrapped, so it's just down to practice now, and kite control as you say. Thanks very much! I'll work out how to buy you a coffee through ko-fi.

How one does think of a trick name for this particular move...🤷♂
@ryanrygogoloversic88262 ай бұрын
Most grab names came from 70s 80s and 90s skate and snowboarders. 😂 I think the guy who named this loved a chicken salad sandwich from a gas station where he first landed it. You’ll have to google the origins.

Hi RyGo! What do you think of the 17m for light wind? The V13 Lithium has been out since 2022. Have there been any changes to the V13 from 2022 to 2024? (I realize a change in the design would probably mean it would be called a V14). Thank you for your reply.
@ryanrygogoloversic88262 ай бұрын
No changes for the v13 except the team edition. It has a smaller leading edge and different bridling. It’s significantly lighter with the hookipa material. The stiff narrow leading edge makes it feel like a much smaller kite and the lighter materials are a huge benefit in light wind. I actually get 80% of my sessions on the 17 these days. I find that I like the lithium more and more every day haha.

So much simpler in metric. 1 kg water = 1 liter.

@@ryanrygogoloversic8826 Years ago, in the 80s, the US was moving towards metric. I was in my career with DOT in the bridge engineering office and I can tell you that changing to metric would have been incredibly difficult and expensive when you consider that every maintenance crew would then need two complete sets of tools for both old standard and new metric.

How you perform this frontside rotation is really counter-intuitive to me: You extend your front leg backward, I would always do the opposite: After popping, I'd extend my rear leg backwards, this creates distance between my rear hip and the bar ('loading the spring'), then I go for the rotation - as I have maximized the distance between my rear hip and the bar, I can create momentum when pulling myself towards the bar..
@ryanrygogoloversic88264 ай бұрын
That’s a good technique as well. I remember lots of trick tips back in the day recommending that. This is switch for me and I used this method to open up this direction actually.
@cyberanswer4 ай бұрын
Ryan, I struggle to keep the kite from rising with a pop meaning it's impossible to go to blind. I notice you do an ollie. Any pointers?
@ryanrygogoloversic88264 ай бұрын
Hey yea, this is a half loaded pop or an Ollie. It’s a lot more difficult if you do a raley based pop since you need to get the bar back in and close. I actually am flicking the kite up in a lot of these from this batch of tips. The trick is to get the center line to touch your hip. Try just riding blind hooked in first. Really feel the center line wrap around you. Then go for that in the air. The kite could be at noon and you will still ride away. A few more tips. For hooked in blind really lean forward. Use the weight of your body. Look how I’m landing in this one. Hope that helps.

Too bad can't put a rope there, well it is what it is. Also about roll up, none of those wings here, no idea how this plays out since it puts twist stress on that ratchet belt. Overall interesting approach/idea.

There is a method harness that can use a rope Aerobar or regular hook. Not the RS system. Everything is the same except it uses a seatbelt like system.

The ratchet will wear over time.... Whats the manufacturers wear/time... 1 season? A friend recently had a major issue with a ratchet system when it gave way mid loop and tge whole spreader bar went sailing off down wind, leaving him mid air with no harness.... 😮 A closer look at the build quality, connecting points and price point is always helpful.

Great video request! From my understanding the guys from R&D had it a year before me. I’ve had this one for 6 months and no signs of wear. 🤟🏻 AK has proven its self with durability to me. It’s one of their pillars of design. I’ll do some research and make a short to follow up.
Nice... Could we get an instrucional video on a "flat" handle pass off a small wave 🌊 leading up to a full aerial pass from/off a wave 🌊 off the lip.....! Appreciated your content as there seem to be very few if any people making that low end/entry level handle pass stuff. It just seems to be videos of pros doing doubles (7s). Which are unattainable to us mere mortals...
