Brother, as a fellow kiter, I appreciate brands pushing innovation in our sport. The locking mechanism (a.k.a Ratchet System ) and micro-adjustments on the water are promising features of this harness. However, I have some concerns about the soft padding that you claim can be rolled up. This might be challenging in practice ( especially on big air), as we've seen similar issues with other brands in the past, like when Mystic introduced their spreader bar GEN 3 to address rider complaints. l be keeping an eye on this product. I'd be more inclined to purchase once there's more feedback from riders of various skill levels. Keep up the good work. Additionally , Non-water absorbing option would give this harness an edge. Many kiters are tired of taking that harness out of their car to avoid dodgy smell. Have that in mind.

Hey Ryan, thanks for the review. How do you feel about the longevity/reliability of the ratchet and strap? It looks like a great system but I am a bit worried about whether the plastic strap will wear and slip. Are you happy to rely on it for big kite loop jumps? Any thoughts? Cheers

From what I understand the R&D guys tested this for a year. They are based in Cape Town they get plenty of strong big air days haha. But yes, I’ve come to trust AK to never compromise on durability. My last harness from them looked brand new after a year of abuse. Usually I shred harnesses to bits.

@@ryanrygogoloversic8826 Thanks for that. I also find AK stuff to be highly trustworthy. The RS strap looks (haven’t seen one in the flesh) a lot like a bigger version of the straps you get on snowboard bindings. These are also safety critical and generally do fine but they do wear and you have to keep an eye on them. I suspect that the RS system is great but I would want to keep a close eye on the ratchet and the teeth on the strap over time.

@@sandeepgill27 The method comes with the option of this system or a double seat belt style for the carbon aero bar. I used that all all last year. It’s amazing. Yeah 34 I think is Large.

To be honest I can’t feel much of a difference wearing them. But to be fair I wasn’t thinking about comparing. If I had been cognizant I suspect that I would have caught a few things. I think the flax has a touch more give and maybe weight? but I never weighed them. I’ll have to check the next time l get my hands on the carbon version. I’m all in on the flax this year after using the carbon last year but honestly because the gold color pops on the water haha.

Strange that no one has tried this yet. My RE Carbon 2020 already shows wear at the neopren parts. Can you compare to RE?

I loved their Sabre when it dropped. I’ve use a couple other brands extensively. The RS has the ratchet so you can tighten while riding with micro adjustments anytime. My experience has been that AK puts durability in the forefront of every design and they never compromise. I’m constantly surprised at how fresh and long lasting all my AK stuff has been. The last method I had for a full year teaching daily in the hot Florida sun, tossed around an Rv, several international trips and it looked the same as the day I got it. It made no sense to me haha.
