Update after using for a a few years. The O rings crumbled apart when I removed the clamp the other day. The one part I was questionable about failed. Good news is I replaced them with Vibrant ones and it’s all good. Side note, car still made boost even with no o rings in it. Turbo just had to work a little harder to make up for the boost leak.

$3 huh? Strip of steel is more than $3, a C clamp is more than $3 and lets not get into a welder LOL. Can buy proper tools for this for less than $50. At some point your time needs to be considered. Seems like a cheap DIY when you have all this already, but the hour+ to fab all this is worth a proper pre-made <$50 proper tool. I like the ingenuity though. Take it one step further and weld a 3/8" socket on the end to use a impact and zip the spring plate down/up much faster. Time is money.

I have a 454 in a 85 montecarlo toped with a 750 holly doubble pumper carb running 6an braided lines and a 300gph fule pump in stock tank with a fule injection style 58psi fule reg. Before the engine that will reg. Down to it's lowest setting at 58psi. From there I run a holly fule reg. That regulates to 4.5 to 12psi. My problem is with both regulators in place I still get 58psi with both regulators screw cranked all the way out. I am wondering if I have a bad holly regulator. What's your thoughts on this? The holly fule reg. Said on the instructions that if running a hi psi pump to run 2 regulators as I did. Mind you, I paid 80bucks for the holly one off ebay and they go for 280 to 30p or more retail for a pro fule regulator. What are your thoughts on this??

A vehicle is a moving object. That's where the shrouding assist in front of the radiator. Your pusher fan does not "obstruct" the radiator more than a puller. Plus, the fan starts turning as you drive. If you "theoretically" find a marginal benefit puller vs pusher, then you face a bigger problem. I use pusher fans since 30 years on all my street cars which I build.

I always thought gate size was more dependent on power being made not necessarily engine displacement. If you are flowing x amount of CFM for X amount of power then your gate needs to be able to flow enough of a percentage of that overall CFM to keep things in check , also in most cases your turbo back half can't flow enough cfm for the turbos rated power, so the excess CFM has to be provided by the gate. TLDR Gate size is better determined by flow demand not displacement. A 1.8l engine making 900hp will need more gate than a 5l engine making 500hp.
@Shane_Whalley3 ай бұрын
More volume than flow. A 2.0L engine turning 11k rpm at 40lbs of boost will need a larger gate than your standard 2.0L at 15lbs of boost since it’s moving more air. You can’t go just off power, because for large displacement engines that move a lot of exhaust without boost will need to have a larger gate to keep boost from spiking. There’s ways to go into technicalities for many different scenarios, I’m just trying to keep the video relatively short and simple.

After 4 years I don't even know if you'll answer this but I'm running the 6.0 LS and is it necessary to keep the PCV valve hooked up or can I delete that by running a line to the catch can? This is my first LS build so I don't know if this PCV valve is necessary unless running a catch can. Thank you and yes these types of videos are awesome. Big Chief from the 405 is doing a lot of informational type videos and it helps us beginners out.

How did you end up getting the trans and everything to communicate with the bcm? I’ve got a 2015 and I’m doing 6.0/t56 and that’s where I’m at.
@Shane_Whalley3 ай бұрын
No BCM. Chassis is controlled through an aftermarket PDM, and the engine is on a Haltech standalone.

I randomly had one single needle from what looked to be a needle bearing attached to my drain plug magnet yesterday when i drained the oil. Any chance that needle could be from my rockerarm needle bearing? I am scratching my head on this one....how could that have made it all the way down there without causing any catastrophic failures. ...??

You think all the brand name companies have purchased a milling machine just to make clamps? They all get them manufactured in china and just get their logos laser etched onto them. All companies do it with products. It saves a heap of money on business overheads
