I'm sorry I don't have that info. Has the trans ever been serviced? If it hasn't these transmissions aren't the greatest. Nor are the torque converters themselves. I would start with checking fluid level, color and smell

Very handy video. Good method for sure. I used to work at Daimler Chrysler ITP 4 plant in Kokomo Indiana where we built this transmission by the thousands. It's an okay transmission as long as you take good care of it and change the fluid and keep it cool. A humble suggestion: consider using acetone instead of alcohol. It dries clean and it is more effective at dissolving gaskets. You can also mix up 50% ATF and 50% acetone and that is a great corrosion remover as a side product.

Great job on not having blood running off your knuckles. Nice work on everything. When i did my charger rebuild on my 06 s type r i replaced those torx head bolts on the water manifold with hex heads. Also on the jaguar the room between the induction elbow and firewall is nil. Easier to take off as a unit. I have had the charger on and off 3 times. Did not do coolant hoses first time. Third time is when i rebuilt it with a rotor pack with only 35,000 miles on it and new snout and needle bearings. With the shortcuts i learned i can have itt off in less than 2 hours now. Hope to never have to again as there is nothing left to replace under or around it. They are a challenge the first time

How did you drop the axle tube ? My passenger axle is stuck in the hub. So i'm trying to remove the complete assembly axle and tube together but the tube won't budge either. Do you have any recommendations ? Thank you
@nsigarage52122 ай бұрын
So the passanger side is not a 2 peice axle. It goes through the tube alll the way to the diff. The tube has the 4 bolts and a sleeve that fits into the diff with silicone as the gasket so it has to come out like 1.5" before it is free and can be stuck. So it will need to be worked. I suggest removing the tube before unbolting anything else with the diff or else things get jammed up. If you truly can't free the axle from the wheel bearing, I would suggest trying to remove the wheel bearing with the axle. You can also try the whole knuckle and axle assembly but you better have a friend to hold stuff cause it will be HEAVY. Maybe take it to a shop if you don't have an air hammer to just free the axle from the hub. Cause it should like it would save you alot of hassle so step one remove axle by removing the wheel bearing or entire knuckle (be sure to remove the wheel sensor or you might break it. Then tackle the tube if you want by freeing it up, rotating and pulling it out but will come out fine with the diff. The diff does not just drop down and out because of the front mount. Rotate the pinion side down. If you are rebuilding it. The kits don't come with the tube support bearing Spicer 566063 Axle Shaft Bearing B-268 Hope this helps let me know if you need anything else

@@nsigarage5212 thank you for the response. I tried it with an air hammer ended up putting a hole in the axle lol. I had to take the whole axle out of the tube. @mikec22202 ай бұрын
I agree with the recommendation here. I just overhauled my family van transmission in my garage. The torque converter and input clutch set are the only parts you need to replace for that P0740. Should you replace the solenoid? That’s up to you. It’s easy enough to check the pin connectors to see if you have a solenoid out of spec. But from personal experience from completing an overhaul on my 62TE at 164k miles the only parts needing replaced were the torque converter and input clutches. Save your money folks.
@nsigarage52122 ай бұрын
I completely agree with you, these aren't the best transmissions, coupled with their difficulty to be easily service or even fluid level to be checked, they are doomed. I should have showed the pinout test which is what lead me to this video. In this case it did resolve the issue. 70% of the time it needs a converter or a rebuild. But for $125ish in parts and fluid it could save someone alot of money. If it doesn't work then at least that part is fresh for the new converter

I can only see needing new rotors if the bearings are somehow obliterated and the rotors where bouncing around. As far as timing on the m112 I did some looking around and can't find anything, if you were a tooth off I don't think they would mesh and drop in. As far as breaking apart I think he means what I did in the video by cracking the middle section out with the small dead blow after taking the snout off.
