Thanks for the video and great breakdown, only thing is at the end where you used compressed air to 'recreate' the engine pumping oil, you can actually do that without compressed air with the engine off, it's a setting on the computer with a series of shifting from neutral to F, I forget what the exact combo is..

Interesting. So i did some homework after reading. Its key on, N, forward 5-10 times will prime the fuel and oil pump for 30sec. But will also out it into "break in" mode for 2 hours, which is whatever. I will drain and try to see if it fills that way also. If it does i will add an update to the last part of the video. Thank you for the info!

@@nsigarage5212 No worries! Thanks for looking up the sequence. I had a guy that used to work for Merc do it in front of me on my outboard thats how I knew. Another thing you might want to do as a pre-emptive measure is the float inside the oil tank, it's prone to eventually fail because the magnet separates from the float, and you will get 4 beeps as if no oil and the computer will put it in protection mode (low rev) when this happens. The cap on the sensor/float is sealed, but there is a guy that shows a hack here on youtube and how to fix the float. This will save you from future headaches on the water, and save you from having to buy a new tank again👊 It might even help your channel to do a better video of the repair. The camerawomen in the video is terrible, but the repair is solid. She eventually figures it out and moves in close to show the work at the end 🤦‍♂️.. Link -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWmviJp9lpx-nck

Honestly, just unplug the ignition coils and crank it over. It will fill fast than you think.

Great video NSI Garage. I have a 2001seadoo utopia jetboat same concept same issue was thinking of changing out the resivor tank like you did on your video .The big tank of oil is not Transferring to the small resivor on the side of engine but before I do want see if there something simple I can replace or try before going about that .it been a headache is there anything I can try before I replace the brass valve or whole resivor and if so where can I purchase one from Thanks🙏

I'm not sure if the seadoo uses pressure in big tank to transfer oil to the little tank. To here might be a small inline filter that is clogged, or something blocking the outlet of big tank. You may need swing the fuel pump out of the way. To get better access. But the rubber line should push out of of way.. The layout of these engines change depending on year and HP rating. I believe yours might also have the fuel stainer that has a red cap. I do not know if this is the part number you need but this is what it looks like.35-884380T 35-8M0020349 My 04 only has the spin on.

Going through this process with my boat. How can I refill the new onboard oil reservoir without an air compressor?

Pull the power to the ignition coils and crank it. It actually fills very fast. Or put ear muffs on it and just run it you will see how quick it actually fills. IF the tank does not fill make sure the air compressor on the motor is not bad, it was a know issue with these motors

You cut away before it completely filled - do you fill until it starts leaking out the top and then screw the top plug back in?

It doesnt have to leak, if there is a small amout of air it will purge itself.

What is to the left of the fuel filter? Someone told me their might be a filter in that housing as well

I call it a fuel manifold but some of them have a stainer 8M0122423 I believe is the part number. My motor is an 04 175hp V6 and I don't believe it has that stainer. It's easy to identify by it's red top

It doesn't matter. It's just a contact switch in the reservoir

Can you go into detail on how to prime the reserve tank please? I keep the engine off… loosen cap on reserve tank, take cap off onboard tank and create pressure? Can I put muffs on engine and just loosen reserve reserve cap or will this be bad?

You can also just take off the cap and pre fill it. Put on muffs. And run it. It will fill pretty quick and self purge

Just line pressure from my compressor. Probably 100, but just gave short bursts

How not full?. It should fill within a few seconds of running

There is an oil check valve.if it's stuck open it can allow oil to flow back to the holding tank . What year and HP is your motor, and serial number if you can find it. And I will do what I can to help. Nosleepinc2020@gmail.com

If you go on Mercury's website with the engine SN if will show you exploded views of all the parts

I don't believe it comes off. It is one solid piece? Or part of the whole motor. I did this a few years ago I believe the only real trouble I had was that bolt

I will have to take a closer look next time I have it off. I do know the spark plugs were a pain even with professional plug sockets
