Thanks for posting this! But, oh man, the loud music was really annoying.

I'm still working out the editing bugs,and you are only allowed select songs without running into copy writing. It's that or listen to me breath in fast forward 🤣

What do the unlock symbols look like i cant seem to find it
@nsigarage52123 жыл бұрын
I believe it's an arrow or an actual 🔐 symbol at the bottom of the tank. If you are looking at it with your head facing the trunk. 9' oclock

It's a very very light click if not anything at all.

The plastic large cap nut must get torqued to 60 Newton meters. The special tool is needed to do that. The tool is about $25. Also, you should not reach into the fuel tank with your hand. Fuel is toxic. There is an inexpensive long arm tool for removing and installing the pump. Otherwise, great video. Thank you.

I agree with you 100%. But this was the night in the winter in front of a game stop. Just had to get it done lol

Bro I did this in the dead of winter, at night, for my friend in a strip mall parking lot, I thought I was going to loose a hand to how cold it was. And like any fuel pump replace ment it was 107% full

I'm doing mine right now......... first the fuelpump is to be changed........ the gas that I emptied from the old filter looked like engine oil that hadn't been changed for 50k miles! How is this car even running?!?! So tomorrow I tackle the VDO fuelpump. The most difficulty I see will be extracting the lower part of the pump. KZbin doesn't have a good video on this type of fuelpump. There seems to be more popular types of fuelpumps used during the B5 passat and Audi of these years. I haven't figured it out yet. But I will succeed!!! I'm very close to success or total failure, l will let you know......... if you give a shit. Bye bye.

I wish my video was better at the bottom locking ring. But you will see an arrow or some marking on the passanger side. Like it says I did it in a strip mall parking lot in winter in the dark. Let me know how it it goes. Just remember you may have to clock the top if the bottom unlocks when you put the top onto the tank. Let me know. Hope the video helped

Did you ever remove the pump from the basket without the fuel wrench? I am in the middle of the job on my 2001 and it is very tight! I think I might have to order it, not sure…
@nsigarage5212 Жыл бұрын
By basket, are you talking about the bottom of the tank? I just reached in a twisted it, but I have gorilla hand strength. It's only a small turn. My bigger issue was pre clocking the top so thst thr bottom stayed snapped in when I twisted the top into place (aftermarket pump had thinner shit tabs)

@@nsigarage5212 By basket I meant bottom of the tank. I have strength for medium-small hands but very concerned of breaking basket so I left it alone. I caved and ordered a fuel pump remover tool but I might attempt to try one more time. My fuel pump was original and lasted up to 252k miles.
