I applaud you for your journey bro.....I graduated with a science degree recently at 31 years old....I wasn't a bad student but I didn't have a good track record (I withdrew a lot because of health and financial issues) I was thinking about a Caribbean school....the thing is...as you know...because you went through the process....it's very expensive and it made me consider law school as well....if I went that route...I'd probably want to do corporate law handling healthcare transactional work....I'm still going back and forth thinking about which path to take....but the opportunity cost is higher through a Caribbean med school....you also have to take into consideration the years it will take to pay back those loans....sure...doctors make a great salary but they have to pay those loans before they have any financial freedom....on top of that....these carib schools now have those comp exams and they don't tell you what's their passing rate on that exam....which is BS....because that's how these schools weed people out by the end of 2nd year....that's how they protect their USMLE passing rates...cause you need to pass the comp in order to sit for STEP 1...if people do bad they kick them out and take their money...leaving the student with over 200k in debt if you don't pass in 3 attempts I believe....STEP 1 being pass/fail now makes it even more hard to match cause it puts more pressure on STEP 2...they'd also have to be comfortable with getting into internal or family med since this is what most carib students match in...anything else is a prayer......the expensive cost especially goes for carib med students who have no family support but I'm glad it worked out for you....all the best doc

dont worry man. your whole team adjusts their expectations for the first week or two . you should go in today, find the team you will be on, and start adding your patients to your list, read up on them, and prep for presenting your patients tomorrow. if its the same attending on the team, then just keep your history to a 1 liner, and present the updates to the patients care. try it out, i dont think you would regret it .
