LMAO! "Oh...oh...that's my student loans. Dope." That is so real. I love that you put yourself out there and are financially showing people what some medical students go through to obtain a medical education. People always think, "They're a doctor, they did it to get rich", or "They're rich because they're a doctor" when there's just a bit more to the story lol. What people don't realize is that a lot of doctors had to finance their education because mom and dad didn't foot the bill and it takes a whole lot of time, blood, sweat, tears, and years to get to the point where a doctor is making any kind of decent money to start paying off their medical school loans. You're the awesomest, Dr. Sean - keep doing what you're doing. You're gonna be an excellent doctor!

M1 at SGU. Will be taking Step 1 (pass/fail) & no more Step 1 exam just normal shelf’s. Also from friends who are residents that have brushed some knowledge down to me...no one will admit this but more than half the time residencies are looking for people they “like”. They don’t care about scores. They’ll turn away a Harvard grad for an IMG who has a better personality & who will work well with their team. Yes grades / scores are important, but it’s not the deal breaker. Now obviously you need to be realistic with yourself for specialities. 220s won’t get you neurosurgery - so obviously we need to apply within reason. But again, boards are changing to pass fail now. Who knows how that’ll change residency acceptances etc. Best of luck to you!

How about medical oncology? Just curious to know. FYI I’m an oncology MSL for a big pharma. Also, I’m curious to know how you guys financially support yourself through med school when you basically have no income. Is there any stipend or you need to have supporting parents? I don’t know any of these since I came to the US to do my PhD where I used to receive a monthly salary (very nominal) as a research assistant.
@nguyentuan642 жыл бұрын
As of May 8, 2022, the average annual pay for an Oncology MSL in the United States is $125,154 a year. Oncology is one of the more competitive /higher paying Internal Medicine subspecialty. You are looking at 4 years medical school education, 3 years of Internal medicine and 1-2 years of fellowship. With such a high salary for your current job, I wonder if it's a good idea to load yourself with loans and a decade of education. More if you have to take prerequisites, MCAT preparation etc.

@junebug82413 жыл бұрын
I would like to know as well, I'm planning on applying to Carribean schools and SGU was my first interest but now i'm considering Ross. From what I know SGU's CAAM-HP withdrawal seems like a huge red flag because for future students that will take USMLES after 2024 can't sit for the exams unless SGU gets accreditation again.

hey man funny ass intro! @SeanDarmal3 жыл бұрын
Nick, this is a great question. If I can be honest, this is my personal preference. I am the type of person who learns best when I have a whole day of uninterrupted studying. I think that if you are starting to feel that small groups are more hindering than helpful, i think that just means that you are figuring out what studying method works best for you. you get what I am saying. I personally did not like small groups, especially the further i got into my terms in school... but thats only because i felt like i needed extra time to learn the material in the first place (i am a slow reader/learner), so half the time i didnt even feel comfortable discussing the material with others yet. thats why i really loved and utilize the weekends because it was nonstop studying for me. also, save up and make sure you use your skips towards the end of the term so you have more time for studying

I attended the school's webinar last week Sunday and one of the representatives said that. This is so conflicting. I was also told if I had certain gpa and mcat score then I'm automatically eligible for a scholarship of about 70k$. I'm just concerned about the high tuition and I have no shot at US school since they don't accept international students transcripts.
