I kind of feel like this would have been a scene that would have happened if one of the original ideas for Star Trek: First Contact had come to pass where the Borg, instead of traveling back to prevent Earth's first contact with the Vulcans, traveled back to screw with the Renaissance era.

That is exactly where the inspiration for this little short came from. It essentially was supposed to be the opening for one of our previous films "Resistance" but unfortunately we had to re-write it due to Covid.

Why did they need the Delta Flyer? Couldn't they have used the Transporter? And why does this exceed the 15 minute restriction from CBS and Paramount on a fan film? Were those idiotic restrictions lifted?

It is explained at the start of the story that the transporter cannot be used due to radiation coming from the Ring, so they have to travel by Shuttlecraft - not the Delta Flyer, this isn't Star Trek: Voyager. Also, the Fan Film guidelines are just that 'guidelines', not restrictions. We have never had an issue with the IP holders of Star Trek.

I just watched this. A-freaking-mazing! Very well done! My favorite uniform from all of ST was the ST:E, and you did it so well. One of the major flaws with ST:E was they were having some sort of war with the Xindi when they were supposed to be having it with the Romulans. Very well done. Sets, story, acting all really top notch. You should be very proud of yourselves. Thank-you!
