Outstanding! The Vulcan ambassador impersonation was probably the single best trek fan film impersonation I've ever heard. Tone, pacing, head movements. Nailed it. And what production value?! Half the time I felt like I was watching the real thing. Camera work was fantastic.

I agree with everything you said. The only thing that took me out of it was the TNG era sounds when they were activating the auto destruct. Other than that it was great.

The ending, of course, is "Balance of Terror". Starfleet still doesn't know what the Romulans look like until Uhura is able to get an image of the Romulan bridge and we see the Romulan Commander (Mark Lenard) for the first time. In other words, the Vulcan ambassador here succeeded in keeping this information secret. The message was never sent. Great film, and a perfect ending that maintained continuity with TOS. Absolutely could fit in canon. Thank you!!
@littledikkins25 жыл бұрын
That is the reason for this ending, they were keeping their story canon.
@gliberty423 ай бұрын
But it could also have been that the message got out, Starfleet command knows but chooses to keep it secret - highly classified - but I guess it's up to the Paramount types to add that piece of cannon.

One thing I love about the Enterprise series is the jumpsuits. They were very cool.

The "coast guard" jumpsuits definitely seem more realistic and functional than Starfleet pajamas. Especially since they actually have pockets and loops and zippers, real compartments and fasteners.

Fantastic job! One of the best fan films I've seen! I love Earth-Romulan War stories. This acting and use of props was just wonderful. That the Romulans would be revealed at some point and that Vulcans might well insist on a coverup was something I've long believed. Indeed, I suspect the knowledge did get out, but was sealed by Star Fleet, and possibly by the nascent Federation as one of the conditions of Vulcan joining.

Fantastic effort Aaron, you've nailed the spirit of fan films once again for another venture into the post-ENT era. I was fortunate enough to be on set during some of the filming and I can attest to you and your crew's professionalism and work ethic. Congratulations... now don't leave us hanging!

Wow, brief but hard-hitting. I forgot these characters were expendable so the ending was a little surprising. However, it does preserve the continuity that Romulans were never identified until a century later. I'm very impressed.

@ransom1826 жыл бұрын
Can we please not use STD for Discovery? I know people who dislike Discovery largely use it as a way of showing distain for the series but let's show some class. The Trek fandom has become really toxic in recent years and this is a silly symptom of this. Aside from the obvious connotation to sexual diseases, STD also breaks the established pattern for 'three word' Trek series. Star Trek: Voyager was VOY not STV, Star Trek: Enterprise was ENT not STE. In fact no past Trek series have used Star Trek or "ST" in their abbreviations... TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9... none have used 'ST'! The creators have said DSC is the official abbreviation, while Memory Alpha is using DIS to be consistent with Voyager. Either is 1000x better than STD.

Another brilliant fan production. Acting is fantastic, settings are awesome. Story is great, and this is one of the best fan vulcan/romulan android makeup I've seen, at least as good, maybe better, than the professional series. Sound effects seem to exactly match the show. And all the sets have great live video going in the background to make the whole thing very highly polished. This is real star trek. If all the on-air shows were this good we'd still probably be watching it.

I loved it, the set design was amazing. Acting was the best I've seen in a Star Trek fan production. It was a nice story that was more in line with TOS history than the ENT reimagining. I hope to see more in the future. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the graphic for the self destruct sequence showed warp coils that would be inside of a ship's warp nacelles instead of a fusion reactor or something like that. I might have been the only person who noticed though, I'm not sure why it bothered me.

Almost everything is top notch. The only gripe is the editing of all things. Show someone getting hit by a phaser, show them fall, then reveal the shooter. This way it makes it feel more immediate and more consequential. The Vulcan grip was poorly shot I would ask for a take 2.
