Thank you so much for watching the video and for the comment. It seems that the "mistake" has made a hit with a lot of viewers. That was my first attempt at making a rig look used and abused. I have an old Autocar kit in the closet that needs to be built, I think I will make it appear "well used"! Thanks again for watching the video and for your comment. I built a Kenworth W900 and there is a video out on this build. I actually used the "Fa Kenworth it" on the back of the sleeper. I saw this phrase on a real KW and just had to use it on a model. I also liked your solution to address the pitot tubes. (I got to get a 3D printer) The gap issues you mentioned must be part of the manufacturing process on such a large model. I thought it was because the kit I built was stored for years in someone's garage. Thanks again for giving my B1B video a view and for your comment. Best wishes! @modelsbymonte2431 My grandpa was in the navy in world war two, and my earliest memories are of him taking me to the battleship Texas. he was on a different battleship but similar.I do not remember the name of it at this time. i do remember seeing a model of the Battleship Texas, and it may have been in the Battleship Texas. in the forward room, I do not remember what it's called. It was the one with the battleship silver, and it was the only air-conditioned area for tourists. that may not have been, or I saw this model of the battleship. i do believe yours is one hundred percent worthy of being placed under the case input in the battleship of texas in that room, with the silver. The battleship of Texas is sacred to me, probably like many Texans, i'm sure i'm not the only grandson of a world war 2 sailor, that was so young/small, the first time I went to the battleship was with my grandpa that he had to carry me on his back up and down some of the stairs. Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it! Being new to the hobby my only recommendation is to take your time when building. We build models for the end product but remember that the construction, painting and weathering are all part of the process. This is the "fun" part of modeling. Once it is finished, you have a nice display piece, but the building process is over. I was once told that kicking the ball is half the fun, meaning the process of achieving a goal is a large part of the effort. Welcome to the hobby and enjoy your builds. Thank you for the comment. The PE work on this can be very challenging, especially to my 62 year old eyes! The PE that presented the biggest challenge was the 42 20mm AA guns. After about 10 of these it gets very tedious. I'll work on something else for awhile and come back to do more. I usually work in 1/200 scale so build this in 1/350 scale has been "different". Also, the PONTOS PE set has more errors in the instructions that should have been corrected. These are not Huge issues but things such as numbering parts wrong that slow construction. Well, the B-25 was painted several different ways but I believe you want to duplicate the colors I used on this build. I use Model Color acrylic paint by Vallejo. The upper surfaces were painted OD green (Olive Drab) and the bottom was painted sky gray. The interior color was a mix of yellow and green to get a zinc chromate color. The other colors are flat black, silver, white, etc. Just standard colors. I hope this was helpful. Thanks for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!

Sorry and how you make those rusty metal looking plates…because those aren’t printed on my deck? Did you make those youself the rusty deep lines?
@modelsbymonte24312 ай бұрын
The deck plating was scribed by me. I have visited ships and noticed that the decks always have some weld seams. I wanted to incorporate that look in my destroyer build. There was not an exact pattern utilized, I just scribed lines where I thought they looked good. Did some subtle color changes to simulate replaced plating and that was it. Once the deck was painted I weathered the panel lines as shown in the video. Thank you for the comment and I hope this was helpful for you. Best wishes!

This technique has worked very well for me. It is user friendly even on different scale ships. I'm working on a model ship for a friend and he purchased the aftermarket deck application for that model. I can say for a fact that I would much rather paint the deck than deal with the aftermarket application. That was not a fun process, especially in 1/350 scale. Painting would have been much easier and faster, IMO. Part of the process is removing some of the raised details from the deck to apply the aftermarket deck. Given the choice, I prefer to paint the deck. Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!

I would use something like a paper clip to hold the top edge of the flag straight (there was a horizontal rod holding up the real flag which was made on a foil base not a fabric. Then add more creases to match the Apollo photos.

The weathered cab does have character and could present a story about its condition to the viewer. How it got so beat up and abused is up to the imagination of the viewer. It definitely has had some hard miles. But, that cab was the result of a mistake made in the building process as I mentioned in the video. It turned out to be salvageable but required the drastic weathering seen in the video. I plan on making an additional tractor in a rusted and well used condition in the future. David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Thursday, 29 August, 2024) This is so excellent, and at eah point! Had I the opportunity to build this kit, I would have it in a deep water diorama approaching an atoll, in the act of shooting down a replica of a Kawanishi H8K four-engine flying boat, Allied Code Name “Emily”; Hasegawa offers an older kit that in today’s standards might look rather outdated in detailing. However, given the model’s rough circumstances of the setting I envision, no one in all likelhood would notice. I was thinking of having the big sub sending into a Japanese aircraft carrier a full spread of torpedoes. However, I could not figure out how to scratch-build it in 1:72nd-scale-or WHERE 😲 I could place it during construction!

@@modelsbymonte2431 Hey Monte, I think the best approach is to combine what you do with the audience you want. As a novice modeler myself, I target new modelers and those with some experience as my main focus for my videos. Also, the video only has what I feel a weekend modeler can achieve in a weekend. Yes, it is multi part vid builds which will never get tons of views. But there is an audience for it. If you want more views, you have to limit your videos to 20 minutes or less and have the build from box to finish, then you'll get lots more views. People want to feel like they are part of the process but really don't want to invest hours and hours into it, and they want to be entertained along the way, you master that, and your channel will explode. You're probably asking yourself that if that's such good advice why am I not doing it? Well, that's because you need to post regularly and I have a hard time finishing a build in 4-6 weeks let alone one every 2 weeks, that's more than I have time for and still have a decent product. At least that's my take on it, you know from your own experience what to do, you just have to choose a direction and go with it my friend! Hope this is helpful. Johnny

@@hillbillymodeling Thank you so much for you thoughts on this subject. I have to agree with you that it is difficult to complete a kit in four weeks. Glad I checked here first. Those are some nasty detail issues. I could probably fix it but I have a low patience tolerance. Thanks for the heads up.
@modelsbymonte24314 ай бұрын
Based on what I have learned, it is a 50 / 50 shot at getting an early production kit or a late production. Stores like Hobby Lobby will more than likely have the later production run kit, which means the model would be cast in the old molds. This is the only explanation as to why some builders have no gap issues and others do. Other companies make this kit in 1/48 scale and have a superior casting, but at a higher cost. This is a decent kit if you overlook the fit and gap issues that some of these kits have. If, like you say, patience is short, I would bypass this kit to be on the safe side. Thanks for watching the video and for your comment. Best wishes!
