Monte, both great builds! I am in the process of building the dual drive White Freightliner COE. The cab came in two forms short day cab & longer sleeper version. AMT could have made the cab construction a little easier! Also other sleeper lengths were possibly with some work. The tanker trailer is a nice build, but the style in of a Michigan type! Which isn't seen in most of the continental 🇺🇸. Shortened with more axles would have more realistic! But these were the first of the truck model kits! And I agree the chrome tanker must be insane, to build correctly!😵‍💫 Great video, 👍👍👍⛽

Thank you for your comments and for watching the video. The cab construction is something of a sore spot for me as well. It should have been one piece IMO. I'm not familiar with the "Michigan Type" tanker or the differences so I'll take your word on that subject. It is also becoming rare to see a cab-over on the highways these days as well. Good luck on your build of the Freightliner and thank you again for the comment. Best wishes!

Glad you got through the disappointment with a result of two rigs. Final build turned out great. For thin stripes, I go with decals since they are consistent, and you can adjust, locate, and snuggle them over surface details.

Decals would have definitely been the way to go on the first attempt. I'll keep that in mind next time I do something like that. Thanks for watching the video and for your comment. Best wishes!

That music is a nice touch and great choice, really engaging and cinematic

To me, the music is the hardest part of making these videos, so I sincerely appreciate the comment. It is hard to find good music that is not copywrite protected. I spent too much time trying to get the music to fit the various slides. Thank you again for the comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!

I love that worked over cab. Although there is less detail I actually prefer it to the good one

The weathered cab does have character and could present a story about its condition to the viewer. How it got so beat up and abused is up to the imagination of the viewer. It definitely has had some hard miles. But, that cab was the result of a mistake made in the building process as I mentioned in the video. It turned out to be salvageable but required the drastic weathering seen in the video. I plan on making an additional tractor in a rusted and well used condition in the future. Thanks for the comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!

Very nice work Monte. Love your attention to detail! I'll agree, the second cab looks better but both builds are fantastic.

I started this kit off thinking it would be a nice and easy build. I guess it was doing good until that pesky paint job. I'm glad I got another kit to salvage the work put into building the cab. I do like the weathering that I did to the first rig. I learned a lot on how to beat up a truck model. Both are nice displays, I got lucky! Thanks for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!

Thank you for your comment, it is appreciated. I try to cover the construction of the models I have built as best as I can. I'm not afraid to show my mistakes either as I hope they can be a learning experience for others. Thank you for watching and a big "howdy" from Texas! (I always wanted to visit Italy)

@@modelsbymonte2431 There is absolutely no shame in the mistakes we make, at least those in model kits are easy to fix! Then your videos are very useful, as I love American trucks. I wish you all the trips you wish!

@@dinoraoulquerci7274 Great advise. American trucks have a certain quality. Nothing like a long nose conventional rolling down the interstate highway. Thank you for the well wishes!

To be honest, the weathered version has a lot of character working for it. It actually turned out better than I thought it would. I didn't scrap it for parts and it sits next to the other Freightliner. Definitely looks like several I've seen on the highway, which is kind of scary when you think about it. Best wishes!

I have this exact same White Freightliner model but have yet to build it! If you could make me bout 2" inches tall, i would drive the "beat up" Freightshaker all across your kitchen floor all day long . . . .though ya might not like all the tire marks on the floor tiles, i'ld still havuh ball, lol . . . .it would be "fa . . . kenworth . . .it!", lol🤣🤣🤣👍🏻! Thanks for sharing bud! That was awesome & good job on your build, 10-4👍🏻

Thank you so much for watching the video and for the comment. It seems that the "mistake" has made a hit with a lot of viewers. That was my first attempt at making a rig look used and abused. I have an old Autocar kit in the closet that needs to be built, I think I will make it appear "well used"! Thanks again for watching the video and for your comment. I built a Kenworth W900 and there is a video out on this build. I actually used the "Fa Kenworth it" on the back of the sleeper. I saw this phrase on a real KW and just had to use it on a model. Best wishes!

David R Lentz, USA Monte, your techniques for imparting verisimilitude to the kit’s subassemblies is amongst the absolute best I have seen! Heavy steel parts with just a patina of wear and rust, and subtle metal colours seal the realism. I have to ask: are you a trucker? Or do you service and repair these vehicles? Alternately, do you work in motion picture production, building film-quality miniatures? (It is a fascination of mine.) From now on I certainly will view your model kit build videos, and advise other modellers of your work-an astounding blend of exemplary artistry and technical mastery. Similarly for all the additions, corrections, etc.; the insulated wiring, the hoses (air, water, fuel), the ducting, all add an astounding level of detail. One quibble for us mere mortals: I cannot always tell where some of these lines begin or end. In future builds, could you please explain more specifically 1) the starting and ending points, 2) the length, the diameter, and the colour of the material? Please and thank you. Similarly, regarding such details as the “hardware” you add to the saddle tanks’ mounting straps, what exactly are these fasteners (if that is the correct term) (at 4:20)? Are they steel, aluminum, brass, or another metal? Shortly after (at 4:37), how had you fashioned the chrome fuel cap? At 14:23, the on-screen text is too blurry to be legible. Could you repeat that in your reply, please? Overall, a standing ovation, with shrill whistling! You make me wish I were wealthy enough to offer you a full-time position at a competitive salary to make videos of the many projects I have in mind, so that I can build the many projects I have in mind.

Wow! let me see if I can answer your questions. I'm not a "trucker", but I have driven big rigs locally where I work and I have a CDL license. I don't work on these but I do a lot of research on the subject I am working on. I don't build professionally and I do not work in film production. I thank you for your support of my channel and my work. As far as the installation of the wiring, hoses and other details. I do a lot of research and try to find details of what I intend to model. Some lines are obvious, such as power steering and oil lines. Others are more difficult to get an accurate route. In those cases, I use "poetic license", which means I guess at the best location. Most will look at the model and believe that the wires go exactly where they are supposed to. Unless the viewer is an expert on the subject, they do not suspect any wrong doing. But to your point, I will do better in future videos. The fuel tanks always come with molded-on "straps" and I absolutely hate that. The fuel tanks (saddle tanks) are held to the frame with metal bands with rubber vibration dampers. I model the straps with plastic strips with a thin line of black paint to simulate the vibration damper. I think the chrome cap came from my spare parts box. The decal on the fuel tank at 14:23 says "Diesel fuel only". This was a custom made decal. Sorry it was out of focus. I think that about answers all that you asked. I was once told that, "when your hobby becomes work, it is no longer fun, but work" I have been commissioned to build a model for a museum in Texas, and I have a dead-line. I still enjoy the building but the dead-line puts a certain "must complete on time" feeling that I don't get when building for my own pleasure. I don't think I would take the offer. Thank you so much for watching the video and for your comment. I hope I was helpful with my reply. Best wishes!
