Okay I've signed up for free webinar and I have questions. I am a neophyte at investing and need Financial Literacy 101. I have 5000 left in my IRA. How do I make it work for me better than the lousy 5% I gained since 2020. I don't know what to do with it. Kathryn Creedy

It's important to have a well-thought-out strategy and not make impulsive moves based on short-term market fluctuations. Patience and a long-term perspective are key. You should consider a market expert to guide you.

I started building a portfolio years back, but I moved. The social security here will not allow investing or back up (even saving is limited). Not being able to catch a bus here complicates things, because I'm epileptic and can't legally drive anywhere. I'm currently working as a caregiver, but I'm not paid with paystubs. Several people along the way won't do their jobs, but I can't get a local job here and leave the patient I'm caring for behind at home. What options could I go after with these insane limitations? I hate remaining broke and being harassed for being dependent, so how do I go about getting back on my feet?

Get on something like Credit Karma, When I divorce my ex-wife, I had over 10 grand in credit card bills that went to collections. About a year later, the credit card companies received their insurance payment on my cards and they all sold my collection to a collection company. I was getting calls around 50 a day. I finally started talking to them and found out the original creditors, ( there were 5 cards so 5 creditors) found out the dates they purchased the collection, found out who they were, and how much the collection was for. I then contacted Credit Karma and filed a complaint on those 5 creditors and the 5 collection companies. The reason is simple, once creditors receive the insurance and sell it to collections companies, you're legally Paid In Full. For them to legally sell your credit and information to a collection agency they need your approval. A signature. This is different from the in-house collection. They can because you have an agreement with their company. In less than a week Credit Karma had it off my credit report and my credit went back up. Just remember if a company sells your stuff to a collection company, they can only make you pay if you agree to it, so remember to ask all the questions of who, what, when, where, and how, and if it is not the original credit holder, hang up and file a complaint. Be safe out there.

I'm wondering how I could advertise,or just send mail lovally for dog walking. I'm good with, and have had several kinds of animals. I've also had many dogs warm up to and play with when they are usually not good with strangers. (Reading body language and knowing how to respect them in a way THEY understand helps) unfortunately, I'm taking meds for seizures. Haven't had one in years, but I've had enough break through being medicated over time that I can't legally get a license.

So my relationship is over. Initially, he came in paying for everything. He never requested my help. Once I moved in, I asked what I would be responsible for. I held my part. After he adjusted, he added an additional expense. We spend differently. I'm a shopper but everything I buy is either on sale or cheap. He on the other hand, doesn't look at the price, and that was an issue. For example when we went out to eat, I would only order what was affordable and reasonable because you need money for tomorrow. If I took him out, he expected me not to consider the cost. I believe this was an issue for him because I watched how I spent, and he just spent until it was gone and then I was supposed to save the day for the rest of the month.

I would like to set something up, and had investments for awhile when I lived in another state and had a janitorial job at a well known university. Then COVID happened and my roommate found another remote job closer to home in another state. Social security here had me dump all of my investments because I couldn't get a job.(can't drive due to seizures and no longer lived next to buses) Do you know if I can get this set up without Social security getting in the way? I'm currently working as a caregiver, but can't get set up to be officially paid by his social security, V.A,or anybof it.

Telling people to just not pay their debt is wrong! How would you like it if someone owed your thousands of dollars and an outsider was telling them to not pay you back?? I would work 2 jobs to pay my debts because it's the honorable thing to do. Shame on you!

So can you withdraw interests made on bonds? Are high yield savings something you can also withdraw from,or are they more like CD's where you get higher interest built up over time, but are not allowed to touch them for 6 months or so?

I did very well when I lived further north. I had a janitorial job at a university, and was able to get there and back by living next to a bus hub. I also lived upstairs from a Farmer's Market, where I would spend all saturday evening into the morning making and boxing 6 different kinds of doughnut bites to sell alongside coffee and decaf coffee in Styrofoam cups. With most payment transactions done in cash, there wasn't too much to trace the business. Now I live away from cheap or affordable transport(I have seizures, so no driving for me) to a job or a Farmer's Market, and the way it snows here and its known for tornadoes, walking to work and back isn't practical anymore. I have had a job where my workplace was across the street from where I lived before, but not anymore. Since a traumatic accident years back,I went from almost having a second degree,a few jobs and a side business to having to keep my SSI in mind as it limits me and hangs over my head. I don't like being broke, but I don’t want to make too much to have money come up short because of lousy legality again either.

I have did some research about creditors assigning debts to collection agencies. I also discovered that once a creditor assigns a debt to a collection agency, then the debtor is no longer liable or responsible for paying off the debt. There is a federal law about this too. I'm interested in knowing where its located, or where can I find it. Thank you.

We Are in Unchartered Financial Waters! every day we encounter challenges that have become the new standard. Although we previously perceived it as a crisis, we now acknowledge it as the new normal and must adapt accordingly. Given the current economic difficulties that the country is experiencing in 2024, how can we enhance our earnings during this period of adjustment? I cannot let my $680,000 savings vanish after putting in so much effort to accumulate them.

Keeping some gold is usually a wise decision. You would be better off keeping away from equities for a bit or, even better, seeking advice from an expert given the current market conditions and everything that is at risk with the current economy.

You have a very valid point, I started investing on my own and for a long time, the market was really ripping me off. I decided to hire a CFA, even though I was skeptical at first, and I beat the market by more than 9%. I thought it was a fluke until it happened two years in a row, and so I’ve been sticking to investing via an analyst.

What do you do in Pennsylvania, when you have a judgement on the creditor’s favor, and you are working with a debt settlement agency. All the offers they have sent to the agency do not work for me they basically want a lump sum of everything owed. What can I do next to resolve that issue outside of the debt settlement agency? I called the creditor to see if we could work something out and they said it was deemed uncollectible and I should talk to the agency.. nothing is working out, what are my rights ? I stopped paying that credit card a year and half ago here in Pennsylvania. Any ideas? Thoughts?
