It is true that Beta reluctantly agreed to go on this mission, during the trip to the cauldron, Beta is genuinely happy, seeing for the first time the world they are trying to save. For the first time Beta experiences the world, seeing that not everything is as bad as she thought, for once she looks happy, it's a shame that the Zenith will ruin the moment and make her go through hell.

I love that Erend and Aloy have a bit of a special moment here. He is her oldest friend now, and for all the comic relief thet Erend brings, there is no doubt that Aloy values and trusts him a great deal. I think Aloy loves all her friends a lot now. She quickly devolped real bonds with Alva and Kotallo, and while Beta had a rough start, they will become very close I have no doubts on this. But I like that the game shows and validates the friendship with Aloy and Erend here. They fought together before, and now again. Erend was there in the first game, he is here in the second, and he will be there in third. And hopefully survive that..

Wow! You wouldn't think such subtle changes would a make so much of a difference in how the scene reads, but it really does. Thanks so much for sharing this comparison; it's kind of cool to be able to SEE the differences side-by-side.

Alloy had Rost who played a father figure and guide. Beta did not have anyone. Yet she managed to figure out on her own who are the bad guys and found the sparkle of hope and courage to do right thing. She lived in fear, yes because none gave her any support. Even for Tilda she was just a pet. However, Beta was able to overcome those obstacles. I think for her courage fits most, because she had greater fear to overcome.

And not only that, Beta's probably the second person after Rost to feel the closest to a family that Aloy had.

@@ArghyadeepPal Exactly. I was really hoping we’d get more of Beta and Aloy working together, maybe on a mini mission. Aloy & Beta have about 19 years worth of catching up to do. Maybe Beta is still too nervous about this new world to step out very much, but guides Aloy while she recovers Apollo from the Odyssey & through more Zenith bunkers The final chapter of the DLC could’ve been Aloy introducing Beta to the smaller machines and the Specters that she overrides to help her with her trauma of being kept prisoner by the Specters, just outside the Base and then encouraging her to ride with her on the Waterwing because Aloy needs Beta to be closer to the Horus to shut down some of its defenses or something Since Aloy & Beta started bonding only after they resolved their frustrations with each other towards the end of Forbidden West and then Beta just stood at the Base & commented on the events of Burning Shores and there was hardly any moment for bonding between the long lost sisters then, Guerilla will have to work harder to make sure they bond well in the final game without it feeling rushed

This dialogue is really nice but it annoys me how missable this is. The average player is not going to travel back to the base to speak to beta especially in the post game as theres nothing to do there. Wouldnt it have just been better if beta just spoke to aloy on the focus?

Years ago, after Steven Spielberg produced the game Medal of Honor, he was asked about the future of video games. And if they would ever replace movies. He said (and I'm paraphrasing): "When a video game makes you cry after finishing level 17, movies are in trouble". This is what he was talking about.

Was anyone else afraid at any point that the writers were going to kill Aloy off in a sacrifice for the greater good scenario in a final battle and then toss Beta in to become the new protagonist for the third game, to finish the work Aloy began and cover it up with "they are the same person" logic? Like literally just have Beta grow out her hair, wear Aloys armor, and so on. Taking games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and Deus Ex: Invisible War, into account where similar "another clone takes over" plots occur, and that they used Rost and his sacrifice as a plot device to show how Aloy became who she is. I was afraid throughout the later parts of the game that they might do the same to Aloy and Beta.

While I dislike the Aloy/Seyka plotline (not because it makes her gay, but because they bearly know each other. Vanasha or Petra would have made more sense), I like how Beta has already matured enough to be acting in a joking matter to be commenting on her sisters potential love interest.

I really love how they thought about everything from the time you interacted with characters. I didn't think to try this, but aloy and beta actually getting along is refreshing. It really helps to make the world feel more alive such as the tenakh showing you respect or commenting on your achievements if you've defeated regalla or finished another quest relating to them

I would literally protect Beta with my life, she’s so sweet and innocent, early on you think she’s really mean but then you discover that that’s all just her trying to mask the fact that she’s afraid, she was treated so poorly by the Zeniths and she’s just so fearful of being taken back by them, and once she confessed that you discover just how cute she really is, all I wanted to do is just hold her close and tell her that everything is going to be ok, and like I said, I would lay down my life for her if it meant protecting her

I think it’s so cute how Beta looks so happy here, it’s like after she reluctantly agrees to go outside for the first time she’s now experiencing the beauty of the world around her and you can see that she’s genuinely happy about what she sees

I’m amazed on how much Beta changed throughout the game. She was once scared and alone and now she’s smiling and gained more confidence. It’s because of Aloy that Beta started to believe that anything is possible and it’s because of Beta that Aloy has family.

I actually have a feeling that when Aloy is whispering in private to Beta she’s not actually telling her about strategies to get her back and defeat the Zeniths, I think she’s actually just talking to her like a normal sister and saying something genuinely loving and caring to her, like “I won’t let them hurt you, you’re my sister, I love you and I’ll protect you with my life” Which I think is why Beta said that she could endure the torture as long as she knew that Aloy was coming for her, and why she told Tilda that what she said to her was private

She also plays Tiny Tina/Tina in Borderlands 2, 3, The Assault On Dragon Keep, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and if you listen to Tina and Aloy, you would think they're two different VA's. Ashley's range IS INSANE!

I noticed it changed after delivering Posideon to Gaia too. I could hear some of the musical leitmotifs from that quest line interspersed in the Base music.
