Hi James. Had three speedos under warranty. ALL did this. This is the usual differential temperatures you get from colder air on the outside and the warmer air trapped on the inside ( heated by the components). I found this trick when my Caterham Se7en cars instruments did this too. You need to equalise the temperatures from the inside to the outside of the instruments. I removed that lhs rubber 'bung' plus while the instrument casings were apart (to clean the internal glass) I then drilled a 13mm hole in the plastic rear casing. Sort of mimics the other sides removable bung hole. These holes are semi protected by the instrument support bracket covering them. I used some Gorilla Tape stuck over the actual components to prevent water splashing up onto the components etc. Re-assembled. Never an issue again as the warmer speedo air now circulates out and the differential temp difference doesn't exist. Been like that for nearly 3 years ! Spot-on. No moisture. Like the Silica Gel idea but they do absorb moisture then get saturation point and stop functioning. Remove and microwave for 30 seconds to reactivate will sort it

Hi James, I don't know if Royal Enfield was spying on your channel about the position of the RR on the Bear Inty but if you look at the new 650 classic it seems the RR is always in the odd position and not in the front. Any thoughts ?
@internetpolification5 күн бұрын
@@morgan.enfield mmm….several people have suggested that maybe RE have been spying. The RR on the Bear is certainly under the oil cooler. I wasn’t aware re the new 650 classic but, imo, if the RR is under the bike, as with the Interceptors and GT’s, it’s a problem waiting to happen!
@stevewalker20475 күн бұрын
Good video James. They do look so much better than the OEM parts, which were obviously made like they were to keep the price down. The ratchet strap idea is brilliant too. I wish I’d thought of that when I removed the rear wheel from a Blackbird a few years ago. I may have to save up for one of those kits.
@stevewalker20476 күн бұрын
Good video James. The Dady cool is my preferred place. Not really sure why. Both of your replacement places would get maximum air flow. I think Enfield forgot to fit the regulator altogether and probably wondered why they to keep recovering the prototype bikes due to flat batteries.
@internetpolification6 күн бұрын
@@stevewalker2047 The Daddy Cooler is proving to be a very popular modification, especially since RE now locate the RR under the oil cooler on the new ‘Bear’. They must surely be aware of the RR issue if they’re replacing loads of them via the warranty.
@stevewalker20476 күн бұрын
@ I hadn’t given a thought to where the regulator was fitted until I found your channel. What a stupid place to fit something that needs cooling air. I’ve grown up with British bikes and the zenor has always been up front. Admittedly the CVC units weren’t.
@internetpolification6 күн бұрын
@@stevewalker2047 my thoughts exactly. It’s why I first thought of re-location to where the old Zener diodes used to be. Initially, it looked like cutting the OEM wiring harness and grafting on wires and soldering etc etc would be necessary but I wanted a simple, ‘plug and play’ solution which didn’t require irrevocably butchering the OEM wiring harness and the connectors on the RR itself. People have done this but I personally dislike anything like that. Fortunately, the two kits I’ve developed mean a quick solution without damaging the OEM harness
