Hello, I recently acquired a Jura Capresso Impressa E8 model 13187 and your videos have been very helpful introducing me to the machine and how to service.. The machine is 20 years old and has never been serviced so it is no surprise it was locked up with an E8 error. I disassembled and did a thorough cleaning replacing most of the o-rings although determining the exact ones to use from the kit I ordered was difficult to determine for the drainage assembly as it appeared one possibly was smaller than the others. Anyway the E8 error is gone and it runs but there is a very loud vibration and I am wondering if it may be the solenoid that engages the metal rod to open the drain assembly. It was recommended to replace the plastic cap on the drain assembly with a metal one which I did. All bolts are tight and the brew group moves freely and I don't think the gears are slipping. Any suggestions for what I should do next to troubleshoot this? Since this is an old thread and I don't know if you are still checking comments I may also try to reach out by email or phone. Thank You.

Well, removing the side panels on my J9 requires 1 additional screw located where the water tank is located. The screw is recessed to the right after removing water tank.

@klaus-hermanndahmen168Ай бұрын
Happy New Year. I fixed the problem, but I have another one. I have watery grounds and water in the tray, and coffee is slow at the spouts. Also, there, I noticed dripping from the pressure relief valve. This valve is doing its job, and something else is clogging the brewer unit up, and the problem has nothing with anything before that valve to do. I might be wrong just applying common sense.

@PartsGuruUSAАй бұрын
Part number is 11200. You may order using the link below. Before you order, clean the existing milk system, hose and steam nozzle thoroughly. There is a good chance deep cleaning will help fix milk sputtering issue without replacing the foam nozzle. shopjuraparts.com/products/jura-milk-foam-nozzle-z6-pep-z8-z10

I ordered the new valve you recommended and when i installed it, the Milk still sputters but the Milk foam works fine. Any idea why Foam would work and Milk will not?

Use whole or skim milk. Plant based milk won't foam properly due to texture

@@PartsGuruUSA Thanks for the reply. I am usung 2% regular cow's milk(Farlife) and the milk foam works fine. It is when it goes to produce steamed milk when it sputters. I just replace the frowther valve piece. Any other ideas? I am going to clean out all the parts again with Pura and maybe try another type of milk. Any suggesstions would be appreceaited.

Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! Very thorough and informative and it has answered a lot of questions about my much loved Saeco Venezia that I thought was on the way out (but not anymore!!) the coffee grains I can now use. Just had a beutiful, fresh cup of coffee using the tip you advised me about holding the handle until the pressure builds up. What a difference!! Thank you again.

how old is your machine? the new foam looks great. My Z10 seems sputter when the milk container is 75% emply, which is weird, it might be because the remaining milk has aged just enough to spit. with a fresh container of milk it foams as new again.

My Three Solutions, without replacing the nozzle. #1 ~ Only Lite/2% Fat Milk Only…..#2 ~ Shorter Milk Pipe…,#3 ~ Remove the Foamer Device, as noted here, I Boosted a piece of Split Silicone Tube behind the Milk Input, where the Milk Tube Inserts , the Cover will Go On With Ease, that worked for a Year. NOW, I am after all these, back to the Dreaded Sputter…!😢 Going to Soak the Foamer to possible remove build-ups.
@TheTrumanIIАй бұрын
Right off the bat, What is your problem there, Whole Milk is a Bad Thing for these Machines, high fat content really congeals/blocks the steamer, as it’s just too full of milk fat. Although this has cured my problems for years, and another solution I had, bolstering input with a piece of silicone tube, now it looks like yours there after all my “Tricks” prove unsuccessful….😢

Hi I need your help! The brewer unitis clean and moves freely and correctly. I adjusted it to the starting position, but when I turn on, it spiraled all the way to the top and ran there, making noise and not returning to the starting position. What could be wrong?

Check the brew group gear motor. Make sure the gear motor housing where Torx size 20 screw fits is not cracked. If so, replace the motor

@@PartsGuruUSA thanks. Yes, it broke. I tried with a bracket I made, and it fits over the gear wheel neck and holds it firmly in place. Unfortunately, with the same result. I guess the alignment of the gears is slightly off.

Applies to Z10 as well. Consider cleaning the milk spout and soak in hot water for 10-15 minutes prior to ordering. Replacing the nozzle does not guarantee fixing milk sputtering

What is the size of porta filter of saeco magic cappuccino?
@MrJemelia3 ай бұрын
Common... with a pressurized portafilter you just create not so even unidirectional flow of water through the coffee puck, despite the value of the created pressure inside the basket. It's more single point directed towards exit. That way you just lose some extraction from your coffee on the basket periphery. In the non pressurized portafilter, having the correct grind size you don't have to tamp it hard, and you have really one directional flow extraction, flowing evenly distributed through entire coffee puck. Actually using both systems - pressurized and non pressurized, and once correct grind dialing selected - non pressurized option is always resulting in better extracted/ better balanced / better texture (the fresh grind coffee is a must to taste the difference clearly). Giving my guests blind test for both options - nobody proffered pressurized portafilter result. In short - pressurized result is always more watery tasting extraction and some fake crema taste. But... if I use some pre-grind canned coffee then the difference is not so evident, although I can tell always apart. Correct dial for grinding is really easy-peasy to find if you are not often switching between beans. On the other hand - there might be a really awful grind/tamping habits where non pressurized portafilter would give just really bad results compared to fool-proof pressurized portafilter, and you can face it in a random coffee shop :D

Thanks for the video. It was very helpful, especially the part on how to remove the grind adjustment gear. I removed any blockage and put it all back together, but the error 1 persists. It doesn't even attempt to grind. The error 1 comes up as soon as I press the coffee button. How to tell if the sensor, or the motor, or the white gear need to be replaced? The white gear seems a little hard to rotate manually, but I can rotate the motor manually with the little piece of shaft sticking at the back, and it rotates the white gear easily because of the gear ratio torque. Can you give me some pointers on how to isolate the problem? Thanks.

all pointers are covered in the video. It could be the sensor or the motor itself

There seems to be a pressure relief valve on the brew group drainage valve. It’s the spring loaded rod with the white nylon cap. I currently have water coming out of the bypass and discharging the water directly into the waist area, not sending it up thru the fresh grounds. Any one have an idea of what’s wrong or why this is happening?

Excellent video - thank you very much! I just purchased a replacement Brew Group for my Jura Ena 5 from Parts Guru and while I was replacing it, I wanted to clean and refurbish the grinder. This video was very helpful!! Unfortunately, when I was reassembling the grinder, I did not tighten down the screw for the bottom burr all the way - the screw becomes very tight and I didn't want to overtighten it. However, in doing this, I left the burr about 1-2mm too high which led to strange problems with the operation of the machine. The burrs were too close and the grind was way too fine which caused the brewing to be extremely slow and the coffee way too strong. Also the rotating adjustment was very difficult. I had to remove the grinder from the machine twice, which requires some disassembly and removal of the electronics. The final time, I realized I could just remove the bean hopper funnel from above and I had direct access to the grinder. I was able to remove the top and bottom burrs easily with the grinder still in the machine, clean everything and tighten down the bottom burr all the way. Works perfect now! Thank you, Parts Guru for your help and guidance!

First step - UNPLUG THE MACHINE FROM POWER
@BensCoffeeRants6 ай бұрын
Pretty sure the motor wasn't that HUGE in my Rotary pump ECM Synchronika machine. That one in the video was likely out of a larger commercial machine I'm guessing, not out of that little home machine it's on top of? Rotary pumps are usually a good amount quieter than vibratory! not totally silent but less annoying. Of course a grinder is usually louder than the pump! Some vibratory pumps are better / quieter than others, I think it might also depend on how the espresso machine manufacturer dampens / mounts the pump some do it in a way to reduce noise a bit. There's other differences between rotary and vibratory pumps: They ramp up to pressure differently, Vibratory pumps slowly ramp up when pulling a shot and flow is generally slower like 6-8ml/sec where Rotary pump ramps up quickly at about 11ml/sec so there's potentially differences in how the pumps can affect your coffee extraction. Rotary also holds the pressure with less oscillation. I've heard mixed things about whether or not people can actually taste the difference between a rotary pump and vibratory pump machine assuming everything else is the same. Some E61 machines offer the same machine with either type of pump. Another difference is rotary pumps are more reliable and last longer than vibratory, the downside is if you do ever need to replace a rotary pump they're a lot more expensive than a cheap vibratory pump. Vibratory might also be easier to replace since it's not as large, it might be easier to get to without taking more parts out to get at it.

Is it normal after making an espresso for the machine to dump water into bottom tray when turning off machine. Not too much maybe a few ounces. Like it’s relieving the pressure.
@PartsGuruUSA6 ай бұрын
Yes, it discharges residual water from water line to the drip tray.
