Hi, i've cleaned, lubricated and changed the o rings of my brew group. I've installed it back together but the lower piston every time pops out at the point where the coffeecup/lower piston would turn over/side ways again. It pops up and then the brew group is stuck on the edge of the lower piston Do you know how I can fix it? It keeps happening... thanks

Wow, seems like the only metal parts are a few screws and a screen. So, we've essentially gone from brewing espresso in a steel & brass setup in the old days to brewing in plastic in these super automatics? I have to admit, I had no idea the brew group was all plastic like that. Doesn't seem very healthy or sturdy. Makes me wonder how these things are able to hold up to 10,000+ cups brewed... Are $20k commercial super automatic machines made with more metal to withstand higher usage? Thanks for the great videos, by the way, they are awesome!

Oh my goodness- thank you for this extremely helpful video. I reassembled everything using a different video, and while my Error 8 problem is now fixed, the water is going straight into the drip tray instead of out of the faucet. Your explanation at 22:53 helped me realize that I bet I have the lower piston inserted backwards! If it's facing the wrong way, it can't seat into the drainage valve and the water just rebounds off the back of the piston into the tray, right?! I could not find anything else online to explain the way water flows through the machine. You're a fantastic teacher! I will try again and flip the piston the other direction and see what happens. Fingers crossed!

Thank you so much for this amazing video. Are you a teacher? You truly have great skills in explaining things. You saved me a lot of money. I have a Jura ena 9. The brew group did not return to the home position so I couldn't fit the tray back in. With this video I was able to carefully disassemble the brew group and I found the problem. The lower piston was going up too high (about 3 or 4 mm) and blocking the mechanism from going to the home position. I washed everything and changed the o - rings and lubricated where necessary as showed in the video. I reassembled everything but the lower piston still went up too high. I don't know what I did but in playing around with the mechanism it began to work properly. I don't know how long how this repair will work as I don't know what I did to fix it. Any one out there with the same problem or any suggestions? Can you please send me a link to your Web site as I would like to buy new orings and lubricant. Thank you so much for this video.

Excellent video! Am considering rebuilding my ENA3 brew kit. However it’s only producing very coarse grounds regardless of settings. I’ve taken apart and tried various calibrations, even as “tight” as possible and still getting very coarse grounds that do not form pucks. Presume this is a grinder issue and not brew kit seals, etc. PLEASE HELP!!

Very well done videos, low resolution though. If you need to clean plastic parts of brew group and You do not have proper solvent, just dissolve one tablet of Jura Cleaning Tablets in hot water.

Thanks alot! Great video. I would recommend always to remove the filter though. Mine looked clean, so i wasn't sure if i wanted to remove it but the other side was full of deposit. That cant be good for the taste.

I determined the issue with my 2007 Jura F7 was a faulty o-ring and not the membrane regulator, thankfully - but once I cracked the machine open to diagnose, your videos inspired me to remove and clean the brew group. So, glad I did - the machine looks like new now. Next time I'll go for the full disassembly. I did order my parts from you to include some of the descaling packets, however, I don't know how to get my Jura into the Descle program. I tried setting filter to no - even though I use a filter and the water hardness level is set to 2. I've never gotten a descale prompt from the machine either - so I'm not sure how to use your product. Any assistance is appreciated!

Thanks for the helpful video. Is there a way to remove the lower piston head if it's stuck in home position (at the bottom of the housing)? Pushing up from below doesn't work, the white gears surrounding it aren't turning.

In the first scene you show the tongue installed backwards. It has the double bended tongue. It should be the flat part of the tongue. It must be turned 180 degrees. I don't know the actual name, but it is brown plastic. It is called compacting housing

Jura Impressa c5 : steam comes out of the top of the brewer .I have dismantled cleaned and changed all O rings and greased but problem still there .Steam makes internal machine wet and affect also the coffee grinder and container . Any idea of the cause ? Thank you

Any good videos for what to do once the brew group is reassembled and placed back in the Jura? I replaced the water side panel and want to run it to see if it works before putting the other side panels or top back. But the system says to open tap and then filling. When it says shut tap, I do so but it goes back to saying open tap. Any suggestions?

Bought O-rings and tool from you, and then disassembled, totally cleaned and reassembled machine by following your video on how to fix Malfunc 8. . Your video is really well done!! When the machine turned on, the piston went down, came up 5 rings, the hesitated, then came up little more but then kept grinding to come up when it was at peak and should have stopped. Malfunc8 showed on screen. So..took apart the Brew Group again, making sure that all moved smoothly and easily. Then reassembled machine and turned it on again. Same exact actions happened, ending with Malfunc 8. What do you suggest for a cure now? What should I try next? I thank you you for your help.

Hi, so, the brew group moves vertically fine manually, but, when you install it in the machine it struggles? When you re-install the brew group, please ensure that small white gear on the drive motor is properly seated in the vertical metal gear, and that gear is properly seated in the big white gear on the brew group. Also, the 3 brew group screws should be fastened. Make sure the brew group does not wiggle after installation. Hope the above helps.

+Coastal House brew group moves fine installed, until it comes back up and hesitates. After hesitation, it tries to keep moving up and grinds after it moves short distance to top. so it works well until it will not cease. All the gears have been checked and screws, all 3, are fastened and no wiggles. any other ideas of what the problem might be?

Great video guys. On the left side of the heat exchanger with the two outlets, does the rear outlet connect to the check valve/water tank and the front outlet to the ceramic valve? Or do I have them backwards. I didn't get a good picture of it during disassembly and the video doesn't quite show it. Thanks.

Hello Chris, That's correct. Outlet C connects to the ceramic/multiway valve. A is to the pump and B from flow meter. The outlet, with transparent gasket, located at the bottom, alongside A, is for residual water from the hydraulic system into the drip tray. The heat exchanger should be kept cleaned, free of calcium sediments, to avoid SYSTEM FILL error in J and Z models.

+halfwitish Hi, please reinstall the lower piston. To ensure its installed correctly, I suggest you manually operate the brew group before reinstalling brew group side covers.

I still have a problem that insufficient water is being dispensed with the coffee. Hi Colin, It could be that coffee is finely ground. To test that, please make a pre ground coffee using the pre ground coffee chute, and see if that makes coffee normally.

Thanks to your videos I’ve been able to completely clean the new unit and replace the grinder in my machine. Unfortunately I’ve obviously done something wrong as the machine now spits out some coffee behind the bucket (on the two electric connectors at the base of the tray). Parts Guru Hello Apologies - I was not Specific enough - it is ground coffee. The pellet goes in the tray and a small amount of non compacted ground coffee is leaked on the back connectors of the drip tray ....the model is the Jura impressa j9. Thanks :)

The ground coffee maybe too fine. The ideal coffee ground should be like table salt grain when you feel it between your fingers. It should NOT be fine like Fluor. You should consider replacing the grinder if the machine has made over 5,000 cups of coffee.

One coffee puk produced and some coffee granules on tray each time a coffee is made. I did replace the grinder. Great video. I have completely clean the unit and still I have a malfunction 8 on my S9. the lower white plunger valve just moves in and out about 8 times then throws the malfunction 8 code. What do you think the problem is?

Hi K. Powell, The brew group in your Jura S9 may not be at a home position. This is analogous to a car being in a parking gear. If not, then the car won't start. The brew group in Jura S9 and all Jura machines is supposed to be at a home position. Please watch the video where the Guru demonstrates how to rebuild Jura brew group. Hi Bill, the ideal used coffee puck is well formed like a hockey puck. Also, feel the fineness of the used coffee grounds between your finger. It should feel like table salt grain.

I have the grind setting in the most course setting because the coffee I'm using is very dark and oily. When I first got the coffee maker someone added water to the bean side instead of the water side. The unit was never turned on and I completely disassembled the grinder before it was used. I'm almost sure I put it back together right. Is there some way to confirm this?

However it take a long time for the coffee to flow. Taking almost 2 min for 4 oz. I also noticed it was dripping water now from the 3 way pressure connector. Hello Guru, Have taken the brew group apart a dozen times and reassembled into machine. The lower piston is in home position and the gear starts down 3 1/2 rings. When the machine starts it drives up to the top and then down to the bottom, comes up to about the 3 1/2 ring mark, stops then comes to the top, stops and then tries to drive further up, but there is no where to go, then malfunction 8 appears. This repeats over and over. I took the brew group out of the machine and tried to see what wood happen, and similar results, the gear spins, always with malfunction 8 appearing. The brew group is mounted tight and clean. We spoke a few months back, I have made multiple videos that I could send you showing you what is going on, any advise would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Suzie

Hello Parts Guru, I have taken the machine apart a few more times, the brew group is clean and tight, secured tight to machine. When i turn the machine on the motor drives the gear to the bottom very smooth, then comes half way up very smooth, stops for a second, then comes up to the very top, again smooth, then the motor tries to continue, but it is already at the top, and you hear it struggling but there is no place for it to continue up, then malfunction 8 appears. I have taken it apart multiple times, and started the brew group 3 1/2 rings down, started it at the top, and also tried starting half way down, always the same problem, when it gets to the top, the motor tries to continue and there is no where for it to go. Could this be a bad position sensor or bad circuit card or any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated !

+Coastal House Hi, it could be a bad encoder. The encoder essentially dictates the movement of the brew group. Please note that this is a rarely replaced item. I'd examine the brew group rebuilt, especially check the position of lower piston inside the brew group. Ensure the geared motor is aligned with the brew group without wiggling.

Hi....Please adjust the fineness of the used coffee puck in the container. Is it a well form puck or broken/thinner? In either case, you should consider replacing the conical grinder burrs.

Hello Art, Cleaning the coffee screen inside the brew group is a first step. I think the coffee trickling issue could be related to coffee grounds being too fine like flour. Please check the fineness of used coffee grounds in the used coffee container. The ideal fineness should be like table salt grain. If the coffee grounds are too fine then you should adjust the grinder to a coarser setting. Let me know if the above helps!

Please let me know if the used coffee puck is well formed or broken. Also, check the fineness of the used coffee grounds. The optimal fineness should be like table salt grain. If it's finer than the coffee would trickle out of the brew group instead of an even and uniform flow.
