I feel Dark Matter phase 1is an extremely good mood setter and sets the tone exceptionally well. It sets that this fight is dire, you cannot mess up or the world will be doomed, the cutscene earlier on made it extremely clear. It is quick, somewhat repeatative, not only that it blends remarkably well with the final phase, which is one of the most magestic pieces together. They both give the feeling of a finale, not only for this game, but i feel this ending fits very well as an ending for this series as a whole. As someone who has played all the games, minus GTI, this was by far one of my favourites, the composition of this game really elevated this game to a legendary status. TL:DR i really love the music in PSMD

I just realised how similar the first two credits themes are. They both mainly incorporate the PMD main theme, including the bells. I also only just noticed the Time Gear motif in Explorers'.

Big fan of the escalation here. The final boss of the first PMD was the big legendary from the latest gen. Second game they raise the stakes with a corrupted legendary and the later titles bring in the horrors.

Man im rewatching this, i remember the first time i played and got to the ending, i was crying and just said the most calm "shit..." that night, it was on the covid time. Boy that was a experience.

If I had a nickel for everytime Groudon appears as a minor boss in a PMD game but not the final boss I'd have 2 nickels... which isn't a lot but it's wierd it happened twice.

You've fought long and hard, clearing dungeon after dungeon. No matter the hardships you faced along the way, you kept going for a world you or in one case your partner never belonged in, a testament to your unshakable heroism. Some gave up, not showing enough spine to accept their failures. Some cheated, not showing the resilience to do it the proper way. Others simply powered on through, showing their spine and resilience, unlike the cowards and cheats. Every path has its own consequences on you. For cowards, they don't get to see the game's ending, and it weighs on their mind. Now, cowardice can sometimes be good, as knowing when you can't win is a good thing to know. But in games, you'll not see the end of that game if you chicken out. For cheaters, they didn't do it truly as intended, and they don't get that satisfaction. Now, not all cheating is bad, but most can leave you unsatisfied. The power you gained wasn't by your own thumbs or hands, but by way of a device that gave you great control over a game.

A pillar of clouds... The tower of the lord of time... A frozen island in the sky... The domain of a matter most dark...

You have to leave this world eventually, as you were never truly a part of it. Sure, you were a big part of your partner's life as an exploration team, but when it comes to the grand scale of that universe, that means nothing. But while wherever a meeting is, a parting is sure to follow, that parting need not last forever. One day, you can return to the world of Pokémon and reunite with your partner. And the reunion will be made all the more sweeter by a broken bond coming back together.

Ngl I love Bittercold's theme (part 2). I know it's basically just Dialga Fight To The Finish again, but I really think it sounds better and it has a perfect "epic icy fight" vibe

Keep periodically revisiting these, as their about 99% amazing beats. The 1% is the flute or ocarina for Dialga's fight to the finish..if ever redone...needs brought down like an octave or something, it gets so shrill it's sometimes hard to listen to 👀

sky tower's theme is beautiful

I loved the execution of 2, but it was very short which diminished it. 3 was so depressingly well done. Might even be the best. 4 gets bonus points for being a sneaky bastard.

I still feel like they accidentally reversed the order in which the themes for the Tree of Life played. Roots should have played last 100%. Like. it is so much more filled with emotion and desperation and hope. Trunk is just so. quiet. mysterious, sad...like if you just GOT to the dungeon, you know? Temporal Tower makes the slower rhythm work, only because it still keeps the emotion from the first section; Tree of Life Trunk doesn't really give too much outside from a quiet original melody. Tree of Life Roots is my favorite of the bunch, but Temporal Tower had the best overall feel with its songs together.
