I was watching this guy do a playthrough of the game. (His name is Mariland) As soon as I got to ending, I was breaking down into tears, while Marriland was just commentating the credits. I completely was shocked. After 1 minute of picking myself up, Cherri was already disapeared in nothingess. I was hugging my pillow while screaming: ''THIS WASNT HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO END!!!!!!!!!'' My sister camo looking if i were alright, already knowing Cherri was gone because she played the game herself. By the second time, i was prepared. Then the light started glowing and the music began to get emotional, and i hear the feels train. I tried to not let myself go on there, buuuut it didnt really work. Then the light ball, as well as the feels train, departed and i was like: ''Nonononono! Come right back here, Rosalie. You cant go. Not before i gone. you hear me? So stop torturing me and just come the hell back down here!'' * Sniff *

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky will forever be my favorite video game of all time. The story is perfect, the gameplay is awesome and it's Pokemon! I could see the story of it being turned into a book or movie (guess my next school essay lol) and it's so emotional. It portrays so many themes, such as friendship. You and your partner trust each other and stick together until the end, it's amazing. It shows that you don't need amazing graphics to have an phenomenal game. It truly has changed my life.

It's a strange feeling. I'm Mew. But at the same time I'm not. I'm (partner's name), too, you know. I'm not the same Mew I was back then. The part of me that is Mew is filled with joy at finally doing what I was meant to do. But the part of me that is (partner's name)... hates that I have to give up on my dreams right as I was getting started... and... hates that I have to say good-bye to you. Just so you know, (your name)... I really, really wanted to stay with you, too, (your name) ... I actually wanted to stay with you forever... But... But... I guess I'm out of time... Just remember that this world keeps going because everyone supports one another. They live every day accepting one another. The one who taught a self-centered fool like me... is you (your name). I had a lot of fun. Getting to have a dream... Getting to meet you... Getting to live. Thank you. It was all because of you, (your name). I'll be fine! I'm always fine, aren't I? So, (your name). Do me one last favor, and don't you cry!

@Random Person I disagree, since I thought Explorers was the saddest. I'm not going to argue, it was pretty sad. But instead of everyone else, I felt that it was really predictable. Like, REALLY. I ft like the parter being Mew was way to farfetched, even though you already disappearing was farfetched as well. But the thought of a mythical pokemon like Mew being reincarnated as a whole makes it feel kinda off and weird. I also thing they didn't really use the 3D in the right way, but that's just my opinion. A lot of people didn't know the partner was going to be the one to disappear, but I expected them to do something different. But It was pretty sad, I shed a few tears :'(

My ranking of the finales: 4) PMD3: You are told out of nowhere "oh you need to go back to the human world." 3) PMD1: This is only better than the last because you know it's coming. 2) PMD4: Nice twist that the partner dies, but still came out of nowhere. 1) PMD2: You are left with this mindset; if you fail, the entire world will become paralyzed. But if you succeed, you know you will die. It makes it more impacting when you know your fate, but you have to press on anyway. Basically, I feel it is more impacting when a character dies than "oh I need to go home sorry guys."

I just love how every single PMD farewell just...works so well, every time. The developers just know how to give us a novel experience with every installment. == SPOILERS AHEAD == PMD Red/Blue Rescue Team may not have a particularly stellar farewell when placed next to its successors, but it being the first one to give our heartstrings a good tugging gave it its impact. In repeat playthroughs, I wouldn't say this was the strongest farewell, but the first time I got to the end, I just...bawled. I couldn't handle it. It was too much. Even if it was simple, the sight of all of your allies mourning your disappearance...it was a huge emotional moment. PMD Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky comes in and does its farewell similarly, but the dynamic between the player and the partner makes it seem new, which is, in its own right, incredibly impressive and is one of the reasons why this installment is my favorite of the series. The farewell can be seen as a bit formulaic, true, but because the stakes are different and the partnership between you and the partner is so much more fleshed out than before (at least in my opinion), the farewell still does what it needs to do, even if the end result is very similar to PMD1. PMD Gates to Infinity, while the weakest of the main series, has an extremely effective farewell and is the owner of my personal favorite farewell of the series. The music fits here very well (PMD3 is worth the playthrough, even if just for the soundtrack!) and does something a little different than its previous two installments: rather than forcing the partner to come to terms with your disappearance, it forces YOU, the player, to come to terms with it. In doing so, they manage to do something really difficult: give the player character their own development. In fact, the partner takes the situation very well in this one, announcing that he/she and the others of Post Town will never forget you, even if you are to fade from their memory. The whole Frism sequence just...wow. For all of Gates to Infinity's shortcomings, this moment alone made it all worth it. Super Mystery Dungeon follows in Gates to Infinity's steps by making a huge change, and what a change it was! They flipped the whole formula on its head by making the partner disappear instead of the player character. I really liked this twist ending and it was handled pretty well, although it was a bit rushed in exposition and thus seemingly shoehorned in at an attempt to make the twist ending work. But what I really like about this one is that I have a feeling the developers knew that we were going to expect something similar to the previous three installments, and then they flip the switch and send us for a ride. Its novelty makes this ending work well.

Gates to Infinity was also the first to not have the character return immediately after the credits, which really increased its impact. Its sad that both GtI and SMD did this but had pretty mediocre post-ending stories by comparison.

It's the same thing everytime, and it works so well. You grow more attachment to your main character because its representative of YOU. YOU are the pokemon who went through all the pain. YOU are the hero. And, to see YOU leave all your friends, family, your partner, hell, even for me, your enemies. I felt that I would never see them again, even knowing what would happen.

The ending to Pokémon mystery dungeon explorers of time was the saddest for me because before I finished the game my best friend moved away and when I beat the game... well I.... cried myself to sleep that night. I felt like I lost a part of me. I still miss my best friend. And then the human Pokémon leaving (for me it was pikachu) I just had to cry. I will never forget that day. PSMD made me sad at the end but PMD2 was the only one in the series literally made cry my heart out and even to this day. The Grovyle scene was my first time crying because of a video game. Don't get me started about the final boss fight. From the soundtrack, to knowing that you're going to disappear after beating Dialga even after everything we went through. The moment I saw the first ball of light come off my character, a switch flipped on for me. PMD2 will always be one of my favorite games and will forever be a classic in my heart.

I think what would've made EVERYONE cry their eyes out would be if at the end of PSMD when yoy defeated dark matter, you actually died when you landed back on the ground. You know when your partner was trying to get you to wake up? What if you stayed dead? And have all of the guild members crowd around you and theyre crushed by it as well and then having your partner have to bring the news to lively town? Imagine nuzleaf's reaction. And thenen have a post game mission to have xerneas bring you back. That would've been crushing.

As much as I praised PMD2 for its memorable storyline and how the ending of that was more fleshed out than the cookie cutter that was Red/Blue Rescue team even tho that game was good too, and even though part of what twist the ending gates to infinity was, all I could do was clench myself as I blindly went towards the ending of PSMD. And when it finally happened in the last game, I could not have been more torn up in my life simply because not only how it was the biggest twist in history that it was just simply unthinkable, but also the name I gave my partner there as it was someone close to me recently and as crushing and how taken aback I was as it was then as it happened, it took only some time later I cried over a full day constantly with the mere thought, the unthinkable of that possibly happening for real. The way PSMD executed this even if it was short and bittersweet as it was to make it very difficult to process at face value, it was the heaviest out of them all to where your partner actually mattered to you more than the games predecessors. I couldnt stop crying even as of this moment. It was because of what the final boss of PSMD true identity in a sense makes me the player feel gosh aweful for what I was running into. The game proves it with the quote "This wasn't how it was supposed to end!" omg that quote broke me as self aware as that was.

As much as I love the post game I will always love how these games ended. While it's sad it teaches you about loss. It sucks I've experienced that. But soon you will overcome it. In these games it really just feels like losing a limb. The partner you trusted, the one you helped better itself, the one who was your true friend. They watch as you disappear in the sky. Explorers of sky is probably one of the saddest endings in gaming history. Honestly I cannot stress how much of an emotional scene this is. It got me to cry and that's amazing. That's a game being more than just a game. It's an experience. One which the series hasn't been able to top after more than a decade later. Appreciate your family and friends. Never take them for granted. Me being a chimchar and my partner a eevee. Watching her literally break down after seeing her best friend depart this world was honestly soul crushing. But it shows you how loss really is. We all take for granted what family and friends we have. This is why I say take care of yours. These games just hit home for me. It's the reason why I love it so much.

What really gets me about Mystery Dungeon 2 or Explorers and why it resonates with so many people even among the other tragic endings in this series is because I think it's the one that really hits home how much it hurts to lose someone. It's not just the act of losing someone and seeing it happen, it's trying to move on with that massive void in your heart and then having all those memories hit you all at once causing you (or your partner to break down) . I've never felt so strongly in a video game before and that's why Explorers of Sky, Time and Darkness are among games I will never stop loving.

Ok honestly, one thing I love about this series is how they manage to convey different feelings with each of these farewell osts. They're all bittersweet in a way but heres the feelings I get from each one. Pmd1 while sad, has the overtone of a simple farewell. You need to say goodbye to your partner and all the characters you met along the way and return to the human world as your role here has ended. It's sad, but kinda sweet in a way. Pmd2 is a whole nother story. Personally out of all the other osts here, Pmd2 has the most bittersweet sounding track. And it makes sense. This time around, you aren't returning to the human world, no, you're straight up DISAPPEARING. You changed the future you came from, so your fate is to cease to exist. You're even lucky to have a chance to say goodbye to your partner, who up until this point DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE GOING TO DISAPPEAR. and once you disappear, they're left all alone, and have to make the long journey back home alone. The two tracks after "Don't want to say goodbye" just hammer in the fact that you're partner is now all alone. Pmd3 - I'll admit I barely know anything about this one so feel free to correct me on anything. But just from what I know from this, you end up disappearing and being erased from everyone's memories. The first track definitely is HEAVY with the sense of reminiscencing. Like you're remembering everything you went through. The slow repetitive piano adds to this feel too. The second track has these feels, but its certainly also has more of a heavenly touch to it, like you're flying away from this world and in the third track, it feels like you're saying your goodbyes and thank yous to everyone you love, before you disappear from their memories completely. Now...PSMD. Considering how we all get blindsided by the twist, it makes sense that the first track is played in a sort of mysterious and unknown way, before flipping to track two...which is a slightly different version of the partners theme, The happy joyful tune plays as they try to assure you and tell you not to cry as they disappear, but its just the more bittersweet now, as instead of you disappearing like with all the previous games, Its your partner instead. These are just my thoughts on the ost, so you're open for disagreement, And like I mentioned before, Pmd2 personally is the best and the most bittersweet out of all these farewell themes, for good reason cause honestly out of all of these, saying goodbye to your partner in pmd2 was really SAD. The name "I don't want to say goodbye" was a really fitting title for it ;-;

I think what made PMD3 even more sad that it gives your Pokemon a more developed personality, and it feels like they're going to "die alone", no one to remember them, and no one on their side except for Hydreigon. They thought they made peace with their own disappearance, looking at everyone and every place one last time, before going away... Then BAM, the prism scene happens. Everyone knows, everyone remembers... They see their friends' voices one more time, and they suddenly feel... maybe they DO want to stay.

The Saddest In My Opinion Ranked 1: PMD3 2: PMD2 3: PMD4 4: PMD1 Four Was Probably the lowest as it’s the only one I haven’t played. And Three was Probably the highest because it was the first I ever played from the series, AND ALSO BECAUSE OF THE FRISM PART

Man all of these farewells got me to cry an ocean. Even now with being a teenager, I still always bawl my eyes out with these. So much that I actually want one of these songs to play at my funeral XD. None of these games will ever be forgotten for me and I hope we get a new one for Gen 7! :)

I love how rescue uses that same theme through many of their tunes(it also came back for defy the legend in explorers). Personally, Don't ever forget is much much sadder than any other combined

I just finished playing explorers of time... never in my life have I cried so much... my partner was so heartbroken. No, both me and my partner were heartbroken. Yet even then, my little mudkip still told my partner to keep living and go back home... no matter if they were gone or not. That is something I can respect. When mudkip came back, I really realized that every second should be treasured, even if you take that time for granted, because tomorrow is never promised. I’ll never forget Ao and my partner Midori...
