Take a canteen cover and a 1st aid pouch. Glue the 1st aid pouch to the canteen pouch with E6000 or other good glue. Or sew it if youve got skills. I've used E6000 . It works. I've also Rangerized a belt by removing all of the metal. Adjustment is done via 550 cord through the grommets. All clips are replaced with zip ties. One pouch that I've found to begood is the Rothco two pocket pouch. It's canvas with a belt loop, but holds a lot of stuff.

Purist won’t use it. Read the ingredients on the gun products, probably the same thing with a different label and jacked price. Brake cleaner leaves zero residue, hence the ability to use it on brakes.

For anyone who bought non military issued shoulder straps. I bought *fire force* shoulder straps. They don't have the quick release like the military issued straps. Had to undo the top part of the strap and feed the whole strap through the bottom loop. Thanks for the video; very informative about which slots to pass the webbing through.

Carb cleaner works good, as well, to soak bolts in.Not as harsh as break cleaner.

Mineral spirits or paint thinner. Same stuff without pressure and a lot cheaper. But not as good on bore I noticed. I use hope 9 on bore only. And u must oil or protect steel after. It will rust otherwise. I use 5w20 synthetic stays wet performs amazing and it doesn't burn as fast as any gun oil. I did see and hear about using soap and water. That's still from the Vietnam Era army. Works.

I humped a medium ALICE over the top of mount Motherfucker, at Camp Pendleton, during IT, when I was in Boot Camp, in the Summer of 1976. No frame, just the pack. I believe the load was about 30 or 40 lbs. Of course it felt more like 300 or 400. Tack on a M1 steel pot helmet, M16A1 rifle, ammo belt with ammo, two full canteens, combat boots, and my glasses, and you've got a shit load of gear to haul over a mountain. Lucky I was 18 at the time. If I tried to do that NOW I'd probably take a LOT longer.

Route the sinch straps over the top of the frame. It puts the ruck higher on your back. Tape down ALL the metal, everywhere. Show people how to tie down all the attachments with 550. Do a shake to see what makes noise and fix it.

I'm not going to have the actual GI MREs, but smaller packs of ready to eat foods, coffee bags (like tea bags), Tang, etc (5 days) and keep them in a SAW mag (sustainment) pouch.. In the other SAW pouch I'll have personalized First Aid, and "morale" items (shaving, hygiene, OTC meds, spare AA batteries, etc...). One M-16 3 mag pouch for my Fire kit. Another for cordage, gorilla tape, folding knife, chem light sticks, etc... Since I'm not Airborne, I'll put my Cammenga compass on the shoulder strap like I always did. Will probably put my Handy talkie pouch on the other strap, hang old Ka-bar on my belt. --- Of ALL the channels with videos on the Alice/LC-2 gear load out (there were MANY), yours were the best, hands down !

I found your channel by accident. I served in the 90s and unfortunately gave away most of my Alice gear. I'm in the process of putting together a LC-2 harness system for camping & SHTF... I loved it when you said not to buy the Chinese/Rothco "stuff" ! Using Chinese junk for an American rig would be a sin ! The hardest item to find was the genuine issue Butt pack. I found the 3 day Training Pack in "woodland", used but cherry on eBay. Now all I need are two SAW mag pouches. You did it up right with these videos ! One suggestion as alternative to holes in the foam padding, are nylon velcro or snap belt keepers that are made/used for the all nylon police duty belts

I bought some Pmags for my mini14 and they absolutely suck! The feed lips on them are too tall so the bolt gets caught on them and doesnt ride forward. What a waste!
