I bought some Pmags for my mini14 and they absolutely suck! The feed lips on them are too tall so the bolt gets caught on them and doesnt ride forward. What a waste!

ashes to ashes dust to dust if you cook mini14 mags enough, they will rust LOL

I smashed all may mags with a hammer that didn't work. It is better to have 5 working rounds than 30 that don't work.

Instead of thinking you need to change the feed ramp angle why don't you change the magazine angle as it locks into the gun. The rear portion of the magazine has that rectangle shaped locking block that the release lever locks onto. If you shorten that rectangle it will cause the magazine to lock into place at a slightly steeper angle so the bullets will be angled slightly higher and shouldn't catch on the feed ramp. That's probably why the round does chamber as you remove the magazine because as you are removing the mag it changes that same angle and causes the bullet to clear the feed ramp.

+Prepare2Survive didn't think of that! I'll try it on one of the camo mags & if it works, then all the rest. I haven't messed with the feed ramp on the gun though-- plan on sticking with factory Ruger mags but will definitely try your tip!

+silenthunder85 It probably wont take much and it's better to start off slow and take a little bit off at a time than it would be to take too much off and have the bolt be too high to push the round forward at all. If you take too much the bolt will probably gouge the side of the brass case as it slides half way over it.

ProMags are 50/50. Some will work perfectly, and others will never work. Tapco Gen 2 mags are excellent, and they only cost $20. Make sure you get the Gen 2, and not the Gen 1. Stick with the factory mags and the Gen 2 Tapco mags, and you'll be happy.

yeah i heard good things about Tapco Gen2... figure I'm sticking with factory 20 rounders though, since I already have 5 of them. Ended up sewing a custom chest rig for them (because mag pouches for 20rd 5.56 mags are like unicorns lol); i'll post a vid soon.. thanks for the input though!

Are the 20 rd mags the same size as nato 20 rd? I know they look pretty close. I have some 20 rd that came with my colt AR so I have some m1967 Alice 4x20 mag pouches that work good, pretty close?
@silenthunder859 жыл бұрын
yeah; they have a slight curve but are about same size. Yeah, the M1956/67 pouches would work, but I meant MOLLE-- few companies make 20rd 5.56 MOLLE pouches, and the ones that do are way too expensive. I ended up making a chest rig on my own; still need to upload that vid lol.

Save yourself the trouble and just stick with the factory Ruger 20-round mags. Also, you might check out Specter Gear for 20-round mag pouches. Keep up the good vids.
