To be honest, no matter how good you've done your job, when they are pushing you out, nothing you can do about except ask for a good working reference in writing and quietly leave, start looking for another job. The tall tale signs are when they start writing you up for stupid trivial things which they are creating a paperwork trail to get rid of you, simply put. Worse part in all of this is when or if you have a boss who hates you and is the tail end of the knife ready to stab you, or maneuvers you into a corner ready to stick that knife into you, you have to get out of the way and outsmart the idiot. There is no other way.

My line manager has gone into a spreadsheet and changed data I had recorded for weekly stats. Their change made figures incorrect and would have made me waste hours of my time and cause extreme stress when it came to the end of month stats and nothing added up. She thought I would be in tears and working over my paid hours trying to find 'my mistake', she didn't know I have my own private copy of the stats, and when it didn't add up I checked that to find what had changed. I have saved screen shot evidence of version history's of the worksheet to prove it was her that changed it but I haven't said anything yet. I will wait for the right moment. I am new to middle management and kept out of meeting with other managers. She said my idea of how to allocate work to the team wasn't possible and then made it her idea a few weeks later. She has told me to be tougher with the staff when they do not complete work, but then she hasn't backed me up which has just ruined my relationship with the staff meanwhile she can swoop in and be the compassionate one. I tell her staff are not performing, she agrees with me but does nothing about it, but then tells me the next week that their performance is my performance. How is that fair when I've said they are not fit for the job, but I have no power to sack them yet I have to get the blame for their poor performance. I'm feeling so done. I wake up early hours in the morning crying. I don't dislike my job and the benefits are good, but feeling anxious constantly is killing me mentally.

Hey! Actually sometimes employees have been given a lot of trust and confidence. They are doing what they should be doing and we as managers find out. They actually have been negligent or not following through on tasks given then we implement a little more “micromanaging as needed. And sometimes employees simply can’t take feedback unless it’s positive

What if I filed for unemployment? Do I still have to put it on that next job application or can I leave it off? I was only there for 90 days and they terminated me for things I didn't know coming into the job and things that should have fallen under that learning period of time. Ultimately, the manager didn't want me to begin with so I wasn't surprised. I'd rather not put it on my future applications if I don't need to but my concern is that they will somehow find out through some type of background check. Is that possible or will I probably be ok since I got terminated right after my 90 days were up? (Literally, 3 days after my insurance took effect so now I have to pay a full months insurance out of my last paycheck... which I felt was very unethical as I can guarantee you, they knew before Thanksgiving that they were planning to do this. Could have done it then and saved us all the grief and money too.)

You don't need to put unemployment on your resume, no. You would just have a gap in your timelines, so you can explain during an interview that you left that company for XYZ reason.

They often do this as they feel insecure and are threatened by you and the fact you know a lot more than them. A colleague and I suffered this recently on a project, despite trying to help them (and my colleague is the nicest guy). Yes, this is my current issue at my job. I am the new person in the group, and I don't fit in, they are close and I am an outsider. They humiliate me daily, I get yelled at, my workload is always the biggest , the gossip about me and try to get me in trouble for no reason. I am fully depressed I am so tired of this daily . Its done on purpose because I'm not messy, I'm quite and get the work done. Yes, I am the scape goat. The thing is everyone is in on it so I have no-one is in my corner. HR doesn't care. Thing is there are NO JOBS! And school takes forever. So what options do you really have.

Age bias needs consideration as you progress through your career. An employer today assumes older applicants are behind the curve. The assumption is the older person is not technologically competent or capable of change. I keep this in mind and stay ahead of the curve. My competency in technology far out paces the younger employees I work with and clients I work for. These are mostly PhD holders or Engineers in one form or another. I had to teach an electrical engineer, 25yr old, how to WiFi call. I also had to explain why the StarLink internet on our BPU pad site was faster than other satellite driven internet. He didn’t even know the definition of latency. Just one example, but I encounter this more times than not.

I've been there and it can make your life and even having to go to work everyday extremely difficult and you don't want to be there and dealing with and seeing that person, or how often you work with during the week or on the weekends as well, depending on the job, as all it takes is one person to create chaos and a very uncomfortable and difficult work environment, that's unhealthy and can be unsafe and especially if they are obsessed with you to the point of being jealous of you because you refuse to give them that reaction they want and that attention they think they are entitled to. No one owes us anything, and add jealousy into the mix is the most dangerous combination and most difficult emotion to handle and put up with because we all know where jealousy can lead to if the jealous individual takes it too far, as far as that person being threatened by you. If you have tried everything to not only to get this person to leave you alone and refuse, and nothing else helps, then its probably best to leave that job and find another job. It's not my problem or fault, your problem or fault, or anyone else's problem or fault that this annoying and dangerous person can't handle life and the real world and they throw a fit whenever they don't get their way. These are overgrown toddlers in an adult's body is what these people are, and when they don't get their way they can get very dangerous. It's just not worth it to put your health and safety in jeopardy, as the money makes no difference at that point. You just want to get the you know what up out of there. You don't owe these people or anyone any type of explanation for taking care of you and doing what's best for you and your mental health especially. If you are having a hard time psychologically, then you can always talk to someone. There are good therapists and psychiatrists out there this day in time, who do care and who are willing to listen to you and take you seriously, and the tools to help you cope and navigate your life, following the traumatic situation you just came out of and got away from, in the first place. Hang in there and never give up. There are still good people in this world even today.

I've had the same job for 9 years now. I only stayed because after a while of busting my ass everday, i started making decent money and my boss loves me. I work at a local restaurant and my boss hired her grandson as the manager a couple years ago. I always caught a strange vibe from him. As time went on, i started realizing he's very narcissistic (anyone who's had put up with that kinda person KNOWS how to spot it). He seemed to get all passive aggressive whenever he saw me working hard or whenever i received any good feedback. Now, he's excluding me from meetings, gossiping to a couple other coworkers, and constantly criticizing every single trivial mistake i make. He's nicer when my boss is there but becomes a bully soon as she's not around. But i know why he does what he does, has more to do with him than it does me. So i just don't react. I just put on my headphones, keep to myself and do my job until i clock out. Guess i worked there so long, I'm too good at it. But there is one good thing coming out of this, I'm finally moving on and finding a higher paying job. I've worked there so long, it's DRAINING my mental state.

I lost my job some years ago. Got called in for an interview at another company and I remember waiting in the reception (for more than an hour) and seeing photos of their parties and corporate reunions which looked terrible, I also saw a schedule of "mandatory" group activities and group dynamics. I remember asking myself "is this really what I want?" I left. I've been doing freelance work here and there, it's not great either but at least I don't have to deal with all that corporate bureacracy. It's always been someting that I loathe. And I don't have to commute either.

I have a masters degree and have had middle management positions. My current role I'm considered an individual contributer. My biss has no education beyond high school (she still acts like a high school girl). Early on I went to HR as soon as I saw the red flags. I was informed that there was a long history of employees who are unhappy reporting to her. Two had just left. Everything I suggested early on is now being implemented, but of course she put herself on the projects and not me. Searching for my next role because this toxic B isn't worth my time.

My horrible boss: Micromanaging: ✅ Was scratching my ear and boss was asking, “Are you taking a break?” Credit Hogger: ✅ It’s her idea only and no one else’s idea is acceptable. Demanding: ✅ Unrealistic expectations with her overwhelming list of tasks. With staff shortages on the daily, I’m pulled away from my tasks to cover someone else’s tasks. Next day, I’m criticized for not finishing my tasks. Inconsistent: ✅ Misleading and follows her false pretext about to push employees out. Unsupportive: ✅ This boss does not allow overtime for my position. I did express my concern with the overload and they just respond with, it’s okay. Do the best you can. Thereafter a negative attitude when the tasks are not completed. The boss I work for is not a true leader. She is an insecure narcissist with a grandiose personality.

LOL, I saw my own job advertised on Seek while I was still working there. I didn't have to guess. I phoned the manager and demanded to know when he thought he might tell me when my replacement was coming. I heard him choke on his coffee so I just told him exactly what he was, in no uncertain terms, hung up the phone and walked out. The interesting thing is, I saw alerts for that position every month or so for the next 2 years. They simply weren't happy with anyone. Out of interest, I tracked down 3 former employees and they said EXCATLY the same thing happened to them. Good riddance Jason😛

@BenjaminPreston26 күн бұрын
I know ChatGPT's voice assistant is really great--maybe not within a Microsoft document though. I believe the paid version is $20, but you can do it for free for I think like 2 hours a month or something. But if you have the app on your phone, you can do the voice assistant and have them practice/correct your English as you have a conversation.

Very informative video. Thank you. I have a question I can't seem to get an answer doing some research. Can an employer be selective in which employees in an office use time tracking software like timecamp? Does project management software need to be applied across all employees in a workplace ? I would imagine this would violate some kind of equal treatment laws no? Also, I'm not referring to time clocking software for paychecks. Specifically referring to project management software to monitor and streamline a company's efficiency.
@BenjaminPreston28 күн бұрын
it depends on the state/country. in the US, we have the ECPA which employers can track activity for legitimate business purposes... but they can't single out an individual (or at least not legally). Technologically, they can single people out, but it wouldn't be legal in most places. Then by state, they have stricter laws about monitoring--California's Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) requires all parties to consent to the recording of communications. Connecticut and Delaware require employers to notify employees about monitoring practices. The Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) requires written consent before collecting biometric data. That's just the high level overview, but it really does come down to where you live and the laws there... in most places it would not be considered legal to single someone out on a specific app unless there's a business case for it (a specific budget monitoring, PIP criteria, etc)

Another component ...to anyone feeling that they are being 'quietly' fired....is when one...or two...co-workers....blatantly....take issue with you. It might have started off as one co-worker.....but it is oh-so delightful...and exponentially more powerful...when there are at least 2...that are gunning for you. Some people are just vicious...some... may be jealous...jealous of what...we may never know.....and some...may be both?! Some people....really get off...on hurting others.

Here are examples from the last company I worked for in Poland (I call the company little Russia because of the toxic leadership) and resigned: 1. Your supervisor's boss holds random private conversations encouraging you to move up the ladder or sideways letting you know in between the lines that you're good and if you want more they are open while your boss daily sabotages you 2. You make decisions with leadership and then employees come and tell you they were instructed a different way during their private 121s with there supervisors explaining why they didn't do what was expected 3. Leadership goals are totally different than the ones set out for you by them because of competing internal and vendor resources so they work behind your back to destroy your efforts 4. Taking your bonus for following company procedures 5. False accusations stating about some email or deadline missed but when you present them with the email or apprpval for extended deadline ypu get silence and are reprimended for searchibg for that specific email aka you should except false accusations and not discuss the issue further. 6. Staff meeting presents a form woth info already entered into a company system you point out that's double work and get cut off immediately for making that remark 7. Sexist comments and treatment 8. You are instructed to do X, you do X and discuss the results of X in an internal meeting which cause a hysteric reaction from leadership and you are bow asked to resolve the issue whoch is their job 😂 but you do it because it may be terrifying to them but easy for me. 9. You suddenly have more meetings with your supervisor during which you provide updates but they don't listen or do anything that was agreed on instead talk pf dumb unimportant thibgs they plan in the future unrelated to your job and you are wondering why you have to attend these more frequent meetings (it's probably some cover up they use for sth) 10. You are asked to do someone else's work daily other than the one you have 11. You obtain info from other sources that your manager is wrongfully instructing your vendors and changing instructions behind your back that have devastilating consequences for your work and the organization 12. Solutions are forced to your job that destruct and set you up fpr failure, you waste time communicating the consewuences because you see ut's destructive and yet they are forced upon you. There was more happening in Little Russia as I call it but that's the essence
