Are not able to "add" some of the hardness back into the jaw? I have seen some YT video where they heat up the piece of metal to a specific temperature and then quench it in a liquid (oil?) of some kind and put a hardening on the piece. Obviously no idea if that can be done with the repaired jaw.
@SteveSummers7 күн бұрын
@@josephking6515 I'm sure it could be. I just don't know the alloy that the jaws are made from. Heat treatment is something I know little about. Thanks for watching

Was wondering about the brown truck, you did a LOT of work on it! to build it. But the flip side is a new Chevy P/U is $60 to 85K! and has very little resale value. Most folks just can't afford that, plus you almost CAN"T work on anything new anymore. I just had my 5 year old refrigerator die, serviceman said it can't be repaired because the compressor was cheap junk from the factory. I paid over $900.00 for that thing! Funny part is I got a old used Coldspot freg from the 50s out in the shop, still works like a champ.

@hydroy1 I hear you, our new washing machine just broke a few months back and when I to repair it I found several issues. It was definitely designed to fail from the start. The gearbox output shaft was rusted so bad it was beyond repair. Everything on it was cheap throw away garbage. I ended up getting a used machine from the early 90s that was built like a tank compared to the new stuff. It just works. Yeah, it uses more water and energy, but it's all mechanical and easy to repair. Like the old trucks.

@@SteveSummers I can relate on washing machines Steve, I paid big money for a new Maytag spinner that never did really clean close at all. The computer went out (Computer in a WASHING MACHINE ?????) The computer was discontinued and nothing but that one would work. So I went to a second-hand washing machine shop that repairs them and asked what's the best agitator type machine to buy, he said old Kenmore's from the 80s as all the parts will be available for decades AND they very rarely quit and are built to be repaired. He had one that was nice, and I brought it home, ran nice, but about 20 lots later the spin drive bushing broke (cheap plastic) and I turned a new one on my Hartage tool room lathe out of 316 Stainless---- lets see that one brake ! 😃 Most likely will be the last washer I ever buy ! and all my closes are totally CLEAN now--- all these new spinners SUCK and a computer in a washing machine? WHY !

Too fancy for me, I still got my hose rolled up by hand rolled up on the wall inside and another hose outside rolled up with a disconnect sealed off through the wall Kiss (keep it simple sam) Them automatic reels seem to always screw up with age.
