Good to see you get back on this project. I'm sure a lot of us remember the start of this task and the very large effort to restore a bit of history. Keith Rucker is grinning a little bit now that the effort continues. You have earned our respect over the last few years with making the best of every situation as it presented itself to you. Thanks,, George from Indiana

Steve after cleaning up your cast iron, prior to painting, give a coat of boiled linseed oil. Dry it off with a plumber's blow torch. My father worked in a joinery shop after WW2 which was unheated. The old woodworking machines had to be serviced every 6 months. Any requiring a re-paint were stripped back to bare metal. Cast iron is porous and even blasting doesn't get it completely free of rust. The boiled linseed oil will seal the metal prior to painting, so less likely to rust under the paint. BLO was an ingredient in old paint, so it will take a priming coat. Wish you well in your DoAll restoration.

Oh Steve, you are _such_ a tease 😂 I started watching your channel when you worked on this saw, and then Peanut joined and Elizabeth did Peanut-dressage ;) and you were back and forth into your workshop for sleeves and bushings, and it was wonderful. Then the shop needed doing, of course it did, and it was great to watch, especially when your dad came to help! But I thought “when the shop is good, he’ll go back to that monster…” but no, you brought in a vertical one instead. And then rebuilt an entire pick-up truck. Pillar drills, two of. Surface grinders, one or two. And occasionally I’d ask about the DoAll, and you either just smiled or ignored it. So I thought “he’s not gonna do that kind of full, hard restoration any more, he’s different content creator now…. maybe he let the thing rot completely, maybe he just can’t face it, maybe he accidentally lost it down the hill… And here you are, almost casually, bringing it back out. Respect, man. You know how to mess us about 😊 It was Peanut, wasn’t it? Good name for a bandsaw….

YES!!! hehe, how long has it been? Much digging and breaking rocks, One concrete floor, a block wall, a roof, a compressor and it's lean too, many visits from Al, beautiful sliding door/windows and shingles, bank erossion mitigation and drainage, a truck! A Truck! (I say that twice because it was also a big job and done in depth)... So many shared experiences Steve and I know I am forgetting things. Yet I bet many of us remember the arrival of that saw on that wet and dreary day, thinking, 'what a piece of junk!' until you put us right and showed us what a unique and worthy machine it once was and you made us believe that it would be once again ;) Good on ya mate! This episode was a good one. Kora being a dog, your nervous Ticks and even some whipping... And a stroll up the river. Next thing we know and we'll be over at your folks place planting the corn. All the best brother. Pete.

Cutting a fresh switch to get a whuppin with reminded me that when I deserved it as a youngun, I had to cut my own switches. If I cut one that was too flimsy and it broke, I had to go get another one and start over. 70 years later, it has become evident that I survived and maybe learned something about strength of materials. Perhaps that's why I became a mechanical engineer.

Your motor that's "shorted" is probably just a bare wire touching the frame of the motor somewhere. Especially check around the capacitor and the junction box for rubbed through wires. Years ago, my dad had a cement mixer like that - you'd get a shock from it if it was running. I took the cover off the capacitor, and the wire was completely rubbed through and contacting the case. A little electrical tape and heat shrink later, and it was actually safe to use again (after being a shock hazard for who knows how many years)

Ticks can travel on the front of a rain storm. A 10 pm summer rain of cold drops caused the Williams Grove, PA sprint car dirt track feature ending event. The fan in front of me wiped the drops away as they intenfied, finding 4 ticks were mixed with the front. Next year the same occured with me in the same seat one row from the grandstand top with 3 ticks. So much for ticks dropping down on their victims.

Hey Steve. I remember the bandsaw project well. Doesn't seem like 2 years ago. I'll bet, if you wanted to, you could machine a new knob for the blade guide, out of steel. It doesn't look like a terribly complex piece. Would make a good video, but obviously, would take some time. Thanks for the video! Nice to have a bonus 2 videos in one week!

Steve, if you need a heavier duty tarp, look on the various venues in your area for a billboard cover, or tarp. They are 7 mil thick, and made to last 20 years. Outdoor advertisers may have some available if you call them, or stop by. They have lighter duty ones that are similar to the green or silver ones you have, but should hold up for 2 years and both types are sunlight resistant.

There are ways to mitigate erosion on the bottom of a creek. If you put down ridges where debris can collect the debris that builds up between the ridges will have to erode away first before it can further erode the creek bed. They do something similar is mining dump trucks. Rock will get caught in the wash board pattern to slow the wear rate of the dump bed. Concrete curbs work alright for it and you can sometimes get a bunch at a concrete dump site.

So back on it at last Steve! Mind you you've had one or two things to do in the meantime like shore up the creek bank with tons and tons of concrete and rebuild literally half of the shop AND re roof it as well, then rebuilding the square body Chevy from the ground up! Plus a few other things lol. Will you clean up the main body of the saw using your sandblasting attachment to the power washer? I think as long as you cover up some of the stuff you've already repaired, that would be a quick way to get all the old paint and rust off from the castings. Looking forward to watching the progress on it. Cheers from the UK

You were wondering what all those parts where when you put the truck panels back there I bet. I've been having tick issues the last 10 years. As a kid I rarely got more than a couple ticks while playing in the woods. Now I barely touch tall grass and get dozens. The worst have been the chiggers. If I get one on me, there's another hundred I haven't noticed yet. A few years ago I got covered in them. Couldn't get them all off even after multiple showers and swims.
