Did you notice how the ducks were throwing their heads back and pointing at the sky with their bills? That's a gesture for flocks to fly common to many species of ducks and geese. It is usually done with a lot of noise, although among some species, it can be done as a silent thing if they feel they are in danger. It's something which is always done by North American Canada geese, along with turning into the wind. Shelducks and even screamers all do it. The behaviour seems to be absent only in the smaller ducks (teals, and shovelers) and the mallard family and their relatives (including the Pacific duck). The behaviour seems only to occur in the Anseriforms.... the family which contains ducks, geese, swans, and screamers.

Aw, look at the too showing off their crest! I love when they do it after landing, because it's like they are announcing their presence to everyone.

From my perspective as a US-American, you are so lucky to have such a diversity of "cheeky" birds right in your own backyard 🙂

Lol, you fed the cockatoo from a protein powder measuring "spoon" (whatever it's called). It's proof you don't just say you lift :D. (I'm joking ofc, there's a small gym in your house and your palms show signs of heavy lifting as I noticed before). And with this, I'm off to the gym, it's arm day (biceps+triceps) today.

Weather looks nice there. We had a major snow storm. I found one of my chickens roosting in it. Chickens wont walk in deep snow. I had to break the ice off her and take her inside the hen house. The opening was 15 feet away.

That's exactly what they're doing. For real. When the point their bills at the sky like they were doing, that is the gesture among many waterfowl for "fly".

We had a single loner cocky who'd show up when we feed the lorikeets. The local cocky flock noticed and are trying to take over. And they wreck stuff if you let them. Sad because the loner cocky was nice and didn't cause issues.
