Why do they call these 're-pinning' in pinball. I have been working with pinball for decades and Molex before that. We always called them crimp connectors. Called it that in pinball too, up until 5 or so years ago. Re-pinning to me means replacing the header pins.

Why do you need to use a screwdriver to get the pin out of the crimper every time?

Hi PinDude, Thank you so much for doing this. I'm over here on the West Coast and just brought home a new to me Stingray pinball last night. It's my 11th pinball, but first Stern. I like the late seventies early solid state games too, especially the ones with chimes, they seem like the best of both worlds. As I restore my currently non working Stingray, I look forward to your subsequent videos so I can learn from the master! My backglass isn't as clean as yours, but the couple flaky areas are just in a black area so I think it will be easy to touch up. My playfield has more wear on the big stingray in center, and is dirtier, but I'm hoping to touch that up too. The connectors seem loose, so I'm afraid I may need to redo them all. I was even contemplating buying all new boards, but haven't priced it all out yet. Thanks again for sharing your expertise!

Thanks for the walkthrough mate, really like how you show the game play that way movingthe ball aroundby hand, much better than trying to show game play whilst a game is going. Cheers

We have one of these, Ours lost the little flames on the drop targets. The power supply on ours died, and we had that replaced recently.

I’m feel not save with this tool because it has no ground. If you get voltage on the tip and you touch a CMOS for examp. it will sure damage components on the board. Can you hear the interference in your audio recording when you touch the board with the desoldering gun?

I dont own it for pinball work, but I have a pulse fiber laser.. cleans em up super fast but i think ill still get a tumbler because the laser does nothing in the way of shining parts.

Hey buddy, I can't tell you how delighted I am to see you back making these videos again. Thank you very very much for all the valuable instructions and tips you've graciously given us through your videos. I have recently bought a Gottlieb Street Fighter II for my first attempt at this hobby. Needless to say, I will be referencing your videos extensively as I attempt to restore it. Again, thank you very much for all your help.

I just bought a GQ-4x4. I performed a youtube search for How to program an EPROM. Your video was the first to come up. Awesome job! I had played a little bit with my eprom burner, but this video went through a lot of options I was not aware of. Thanks so much for creating an excellent easy to follow video. Also, I like the fact that you got straight to the point and did not spend a lot of times just trying to fill space to make the video longer. Great job.

Great video series… thank you! Any advice on how to remove the backglass? I have a new one to install but am looking for a reference video or tips before I tackle it. Have searched high and low and can’t seem to find one.

It looks like this tool is out of stock or discontinued. Any suggestions for an alternative? I have done four games already, crimping with needlenose pliers, and was about to finally get the proper tool! Just my luck lol

Nice. I never cared for the IDC connectors. I almost always replace them with .156 connector housings and the trifurcon pins. But I like crimping, I find it enjoyable and relaxing.

I just pulled the little batteries out of the pinball machine. They are corroded bad but didn’t hit the board. I know nothing about working on these. This tutorial is helpful but I don’t have all the tools to do this. Do you have links to the parts you got to replace the original battery set up?
