Nice. I never cared for the IDC connectors. I almost always replace them with .156 connector housings and the trifurcon pins. But I like crimping, I find it enjoyable and relaxing.

The HT225D does appear to work quite well, I would consider adding that tool to my lineup if I had the time. But if you do lots and lots of contacts -- is the Molex HTR-2445A (or Sargent 3136CT) tool better? Oh heck yes! Is it worth the expense - depends on how often you use it. The advantage of the pricier tools is the "locator" provided with the crimp tool (there is NO advantage to buying the pricey HTR-2262A / Sargent 3135CT). For the 2445A/3136CT - you push the button in on the bottom of the locator, drop the contact into the hole and then release the button. Tool then holds the contact at the right angle, right depth and includes a wire stop - no time used in aligning the contact or wire. The key to pricier Molex/Sargent tool - you need to do a lot of crimps for it to pay for itself. {GPE}

Good info. I will be doing this soon. My Diner's GI wiring was soldered to the interconnect. Gonna get one of those crimping tools.

It looks like this tool is out of stock or discontinued. Any suggestions for an alternative? I have done four games already, crimping with needlenose pliers, and was about to finally get the proper tool! Just my luck lol

Great video, thanks for sharing. What do you use to cut down the connector sockets if you need only 4 or 5 pins? Something simple like a Dremel wheel, or is there a specific tool to make a clean cut?

Why do you need to use a screwdriver to get the pin out of the crimper every time?

Does the hanglond crimper. Crimp .100 pins aswell?

Yes, it does crimp the .100 KK pins.

Why do they call these 're-pinning' in pinball. I have been working with pinball for decades and Molex before that. We always called them crimp connectors. Called it that in pinball too, up until 5 or so years ago. Re-pinning to me means replacing the header pins.
