Hi Arie!! I haven't missed one of your podcasts and have sent your link to my girlfriend and one other podcaster to help them get acquainted with spinning. Hoping knitting with Kali contacts you. She is one of the twins that learned how to knit one or two years ago and they are now prolific knitters. The whole family knits including the Dad. Please check them out. Because of your recommendation, I'm now enjoying Megan's podcasts and eating them up, lol. The knitting room is looking better so you must be enjoying the environment. Just checking into tell you that I have finished three sweaters and working on the 4th. Hooray!!! Mittens and one sock also completed. Im learning so much and challenging myself each time I pick up my knitting. Mindless knitting hasn't knocked on my door as of yet, lol. My next knit will be with fingering weight yarn and your going to dk. Hoping your holidays are great and ill check back in with you after the holiday season. Merry Christmas to you, hubby and family! Ms. Jo

For your new doppio, even if you're not doing a gauge swatch, compare it to your already made doppio as you go, and you can always not increase as much if it's turning out bigger, or work shorter if it's turning out longer, etc. I agree that the yarns look like they'll be a nice combo

For your best if CO fewer stitches under the arm you will have a smaller chest measurement. It might be better for you to use decreases in your ribbing at the base similar to the decreases at the base of the v neck ribbing.

Besides knitpicks's high desert line, which is probably the most accessible place to find shaniko yarn Wool & Palette uses botanical dyes over exclusively shaniko yarns. Meridian Mill House sells undyed yarn commercially and undyed roving on etsy.

Losing power is so hard, especially when you are the adult! I still vividly remember when we lost it for several days and it’s been three years. I also love the oxbow sucks, but unfortunately cannot join the mal this time. Hope to make them in the future. Your projects look so fun - I want to badge a traveler too! Oh - and the yarn you over dyed for Meghan is gorgeous!

I live on the coast of. Wine and we have a lot of storms with high wind. We usually lose power a few times a year. A couple of years ago, we were out for a week! We got a generator after that, which takes away that worry about no heat. And no refrigeration, etc, etc.

The hipster shawl is looking good with that suri/fingering combo. That was a great idea. I’m with you having had my eye on that design for the longest time. One of these days I’ll knit one. So did you have boxes and boxes of Woolberry yarn? It feels like it. Glad you met your goal using it all up. My goal is to decide on the project first, then buy the yarn, and then to cast on right away. It stresses me having random yarn sitting there waiting to be used. So I’ve heard that some people put their knits through the spin cycle to have it dry faster. Not sure if I would dare, but they insist it doesn’t felt the fabric.
@arieknits14 күн бұрын
I've also heard of people putting their knits through the spin cycle! My washer sadly doesn't have a spin cycle, only a rinse AND spin cycle 😞

As someone who has never knit with handspun before I have to say I'm very tempted to cast on sommething for the KAL, even though I'm mainly a garment knitter with occasional sock projects. It looks so cool whenever you use handspun in a project. So yeah I think I'll have to participate...

Thanks for the boucle tips. I got in the Tori Yu test knit for the cardigan. I’ve been trying to gauge swatch. I did a US 6 and 5. Today I did a US 4. We will see how that comes out after blocking. I don’t envision going any smaller. I can’t wait. I bought EKF from Monochrome and happen to have enough. I have a CC and have thought about little stripes, but I’m not sure.

If you don't have ceiling fans to put your knits under maybe invest in a cheap fan to face towards your knits as they block. Just a thought to help dry faster. Also put plastic under them so they aren't laying on damp mats that keep it wet longer. Only dry the knits not what's under them too that keeps the item damp.
@arieknitsАй бұрын
I will definitely be looking into a fan!
