Same with the escalade. I sat and pulled on the 3 lever forever

I can’t put the seats back. When you pull that last lever the number 3 lever clicks and doesn’t move anymore. They stay flipped up and won’t go down. Is there a video on how to put them back? I can’t find one.

Flipping excellent video. It reminds me of the show where the two Brits buy a fixer upper and the short one did the buying and selling while the really tall guy was the mechanic. Looks like you're wearing both hats, but also have some wonderful help. Great work.

Where did you buy the axels for your build?
@SamHurly
@SamHurly 2 ай бұрын
these were the originals, I re-booted and greased them back in maybe 2016. Fairly easy to pull since both ends of the e28's are just stubs and without shafts that go into/through anything.

Try grabbing the backside of the tumbler and turn it slightly. Worked on my E36 to fix the ignition issue. Also, Folex is the best stain remover I have found.

I don’t think I’ve ever vented my battery 😬 I didn’t even know this was a thing. Should I do it???
@SamHurly
@SamHurly 3 ай бұрын
The deal is something like: batteries put out some nasty or corrosive gasses, and if your battery isnt located somewhere with fresh air flow, like an engine bay, it needs to be vented. So with the E36, buried in the trunk, that’s why, and that’s why the provision and rubber grommet are already there for a vent tube.

Man only making $250 is sort of heartbreaking to hear after seeing all that hard work you put into it. But, your money is no one else’s business and it’s all part of the journey I suppose
@SamHurly

It's all transparency, as I'm always curious in an informative way, or "how things work." I consider myself lucky that I remained positive, it's really hard to do when you go all out, and honestly, only because labor was "free." So $250 for probably 150 hours, minus front floor mats from my other E36... haha wellllllllll

Impressive. Your attention to detail on repairs is above standard. I didn’t know there were vent tubes back there. I’ve done them under the drivers seats and Miata’s, thanks for the tip. What’s the biggest thing you learned doing this car in such detail?
@SamHurly
@SamHurly 4 ай бұрын
Thanks dude! I'd say the biggest hurdle I managed to learn getting over was a super rusty block/cooling system, just something I hadn't dealt with before, scared me, and some good acid took care of it. I'm really really efficient at flushing E36 cooling systems now haha.

What jacks & blocks did you use? I really like the setup you had for cleaning the underside and want to replicate it. I assume you put them on the frame rails? I feel like my e36 is always a PITA to get on all 4s lol. Nice video!
@SamHurly
@SamHurly 4 ай бұрын
Stands are 6 Ton OTC stands, the jack used was a Harbor Freight, though to get the car a bit higher for the 6 Ton stands, I had to use a 4x4 wood block on top of the stand on the rear subframe. Between the jack stands and the car I have 2x4 pieces of wood to avoid marring, the fronts ended up splitting in the middle a bit cause the wood was wider than the frame rails they sat on (all was ok). In the rear since I was jacking the car up via the subframe, I removed the two rear jack pads and placed jackstands with 2x4's right on top of the holes where the jack pads click in (as they're now flat with the pads removed). Big ramble, hope that makes sense!

How do you like the GC coilovers? I was thinking of getting a set but not many people have them on their e28. Any feedback would be be greatly appreciated.
@SamHurly
@SamHurly 4 ай бұрын
I like them! They are expensive, but the available service and future servicing is nice. When I got my kit it accidentally didnt come with adjusters for damping, (front and rear are different only because in the rears the tops of the shocks are pretty hard to reach/access) so for awhile I didnt know I could soften the damping, which made me sad thinking I was stuck at a pretty stiff setting. I dont have much E28 experience with other coilover options, so my word is very minimal at “Ive been happy,” but cost can affect that decision heavily. A person very worth talking to could is @samthejam on IG, he put his e28’s through a lit of abuse and has had a few different setups.

@yaboidaryl1 Reference the section that talks about Individual a la carte ordering - the screenshot of the BaT comments (or just go look at the comments there) references that items listed on the build sheet reference a la carte items that “regular” non-individual cars couldnt individually option.
