I own my fair share of truck tools, but this is one that I definitely believe is overpriced for no good reason on the customers side. You're better off investing in a few cheaper sets with warranties. A truck won't come around to exchange it, but you'll have backups until you get a chance to warranty it out.

I’m not a big snap on fan, but that set looks pretty nice. I wouldn’t mind owning that set with a lifetime warranty. But I couldn’t afford to buy that. If I was making money doing something that required it then it would be worth the 500

Harbor Freight tools have a life time warranty and stores that you can go to and get a replacement without any hassle. The snap on guys only came around once ever 7 months or so... even when we asked them to stop by they didn't come.

I haven’t ran into to many instances where my cheap 15 or so dollar set from Autozone failed me they work well and I’m able to return them down the road pretty easily. Also I don’t use them day in and out but they are good enough for my budget when I do need them But from what I’ve seen it the comments 550 is a smokin deal on them lol

I use to think the same thing about this very punch set so i went out on a ten year journey which i still continue today of finding the very best chisels and center punches and punches ive tried them from every brand every country that i could find made them i have over 85 punches of the same size when i say no ones is better i promise you dont waste your money buy the snap on the second runner up proto makes a set of punches called like the super chisel or something has a much different grip but id have to sharpen others non stop i can hit my snap ons with a 8lb and they hold up and dont dull

If you buy snap on or Mac tools you are a moron. Icon from harbor freight is just as good (yes I’ve tested it) and you have a life time replacement warranty. Don’t be stupid and over spend on tools like the morons who buy Gucci because of the name. Snapon and Mac tool fanatics are women of the tool world.

Punches are one of the cheapest and easiest tools to make. You wasted $500 to get a punch holder, hammer, and a punch of $2-8 punches. Of course they all are marked SnapOn so all is forgiven.

I love snap on quality .. I’ve been a mechanic for 40 years.. but the cost of them has pushed so many young mechanics to buy other brands .. internet tool companies and Amazon harbor freight has put a big dent in snap on . I really think snap on has priced themselves out of the market

People will say you can piece together that set from Mayhew for under $300, but they only give a 2 year warranty on their punches. I think the extra $250 is worth that lifetime warranty.

Eroded seals like that is normally 1 of 3 things. Incorrect fluid, overheated hyd system/fluid or rot from being many decades old. On this my guess is overheat. May have been overheat from last time it was repaired and fluid did not get changed. Engineer once told me overheated hyd fluid looses its lubricity and acts more like liquid sandpaper.
