These look like nice vehicles, the clip from the offroad course is not what we in Canada would consider actual off-roading - looked like a drive on a typical country road or golf course. No dealer network to speak of in Canada (2) and the price is approximately 30-40K over a Jeep Rubicon (35" tires available from factory on Rubicon) I love the look and the overall package but not enough to warrant spending the asking price.

Having driven Salisbury plain for over 30 years, no matter what the military are doing up there, you can keep driving the byways. If the military don’t want you there, they will close a barrier over the byways. Stop and talk to the squaddies they love it, it breaks up the monotony of waiting until it’s dark, as that’s when any action starts !!

It’s far too heavy, if you want a proper expedition vehicle payload is everything. Fine in Europe where you can get away with not carrying absolutely everything and rely on buying when you need it, but for proper expeditions around Africa the payload is just too low. Plus good luck if it goes wrong in Africa, certainly rural Africa.

I just fitted a LOF master cylinder but although the clutch pedal is lighter I really do not like the loss of feel on clutch biting point despite adjustments. If the clutch biting point is set so it self bleeds (as it should with pedal released) the biting point is near the floor, if adjusted so the biting point is part way (with nuts as shown in video) it does not self bleed i.e. drain through slave. Have decided I am going to remove it and fit a standard TRW Master Cylinder with standard 1 1/4” barrel instead to get normal pedal travel and clutch feel back. Note: I do have an LOF clutch fitted and the spring too.

It cannot replace it, as it is not from the lineage, it is not a Land Rover. The new Defender replaced the old Defender. This has nothing to do with Defender at all - it is as much Defender as a Land Cruiser
@terranowe20 күн бұрын
Sorry, but really it has replaced it, becuase the hoped for replacement was not forthcoming from landrover. { The new defender most definately didnt replace the last one. One is a chelsea tractor, one is a ladder frame easily fixable (cos it has to be) shitbox 4wd that relies on romantic pommies to keep its spirit alive in the face of objectivly far superior equpment such as the grenadier.
@TheSussexpillbox20 күн бұрын
@terranowe It has replaced the Defender like a Land Cruiser replaced a Nissan Patrol - they're not related. Land Rover has nothing to do with Ineos, it's just an alternative. It's like comparing Ford and Nissan, there is nothing to compare other than they're both cars with similar styles.
@malcolmelias349626 күн бұрын
Look forward to getting the transmission of the Grenadier fixed in some workshop in Mogadishu! Might be better than the old Defender, as it should be, but far to complicated.

2 week spots to keep an eye out for are the grey front bash plate that has a hole in the middle to funnel air to a cooler will channel ice and other debris into the cooler damaging it happened to my uncles quartermaster and the steering damper is the first thing that is going to make contact if you take it on any hardish tracks not grate as they are a bit squishy . other than that they are a very nice truck.
@buschtaxi75driver5526 күн бұрын
Sorry, still don't like it. Too expensive, too heavy and the front is ugly. And thanks a lot, Ineos. Due to the withdrawal of a big order, Recaro had to shut down ! So, I have no seats for my Troopy !
@ElderStatesman-pi3lc26 күн бұрын
That’s garbage - VW group canceled their order for performance seats for Porsche - Ineos was just barely keeping it limping along after that. No way that’s sustainable.

hmmm, what ever you say. Still, now I'm without Recaro seats. Any options you might know ?
@ElderStatesman-pi3lc26 күн бұрын
@@buschtaxi75driver55 Scheel-Mann, out of Stuttgart. If you’re doing hard core long distance overlanding. Great seats. But I hear Recaro (the German Recaro, not the US entity with the brand license) is making some announcement in the next week or 2 so let’s see. Not sure what to expect.

@@ElderStatesman-pi3lc Cheers, mate !
@ElderStatesman-pi3lc26 күн бұрын
@@buschtaxi75driver55I think most Grenadier owners would have preferred Scheel-Mann, but they are pricey and one theory is that Recaro was in such bad shape, they offered a sweetheart deal to Ineos. If you can fork out the cash, go Scheel-Mann - they support all generations of the Land Cruiser. Insanely good seats.

@ronaldrrootiii604027 күн бұрын
I would say if anything is going to replace the original Defender it would have to be a Grenadier by default just because solid axles the look the size Etc now from all the other reviews I've seen have you never driven one I can tell that especially if you have one with lockers it absolutely is better I mean it's wider it's a little more roomy it doesn't want to flip over as easy has a much better engine etc etc. I feel like the steering could be made better with double coil spring dampeners😂 the problem with the new Defender is that it's really no surprise it turned out that way. Look at the way Land Rover was already going and the fact that the engineers who made old solid axle ones were long gone so of course the current ones think hey this is the best we have going let's continue this funky independent suspension are stuff😂 they did a really bad job at not actually knowing what the people want and just thinking let's evolve this in a modern Rover equivalency standpoint . They knew exactly what they were doing with the new Defender and it was all people who never had the old Defender and never cared about off-roading. Or at least if they did they were D3 D4 generation engineer off-roaders😂 there's no way any serious off-roader was on the Land Rover staff when they decided to make it that way

What passably you didn't mention was the engineering the stainless brake lines the urethane bushes the thickness of the chassis double door seals etc etc .Also you need more than 3 days to get used to the steering power delivery dynamics it has 5 link suspension after 3/4 of a million miles in Defender Im lucky enough to have a Grenadier.

After a 89 reg 90, a 85 reg 110, a 92 reg 110 and a 2007 reg 130, and currently rebuilding a 1990, 90. My IG beats them all hands down, apart from the steering lock. Owned my 2 seat van 17 months and I use it for work as a fencing and forestry contractor, it's the dogs. Only mods are some drawers in the back and swapped the bfgs out for cooper stt pros, floods and a beacon on the roof. It's got to last, just hope it does, no issues and I'm just coming up to 12,000m. It tows my 12ft ifor tipper well, returns a genuine 21mpg on my short local runs, it's a diesel. Got 27mpg on a run. Only thing is you need to really learn this truck, especially the right sequence for the lockers, just wish you could get the rear locker to work in high range. .... the hands free is crap, the heater is pants, so get the heated seats, and the wireless reception is poor. But its mustard, goes where a rover won't and is quiet, it's got plenty of grunt and is comfortable, engine and trans are top draw.

@PeterFearon-g8q26 күн бұрын
I compared mine to my Merc G wagon 3.0L diesel (2018) I put £20000 back in the bank and drove away with the Ineos . Better engine Better torque Better gearbox timing for O/Road Better suspension Better brakes And yes better steering No problem with my hands free and regarding the heating it is slow to switch over the different setting , seems a bit like the old Merc servo systems but give it a moment and all fine. Its better if you don’t set above 23C. Like you pleased with fuel mpg 24-27 depending on trip distance . Let’s not forget 5 year warranty . All Ineos owners should call into their local dealers and just ask about service bulletin / recall stuff . They are constantly tweaking and upgrading this car under the radar . Things you have no issue with are being adjusted or modified now there’s 1000s out in the real world . Ask nicely and you might get a free wash & vac 😂😂 Best car I’ve ever owned and that’s a guy coming from 20+ LR products and my last car a G wagon. I think a two door (2 seat ) pick / chassis cab would sell really well , surely it’s coming !
