Hi, what is the maximum distance you can achieve by using this chipping technique, if using a SW or a PW?
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm Күн бұрын
It’s going to vary for different people. Best way to find out for yourself is to go to the short game area and keep backing up until the technique breaks down or you consistently come up short.

Important video, and proper lie angle w, forearms/wrist/lifeline is certainly one big piece of the puzzle in putter fitting, but there are other factors including aim bias and how your eyes are at address. Either being directly above, or inside or outside the ball - and how that eye alignment influences your aim, which can subconsciously influence your stroke. I’m RH, and while 72 was my custom fitted lie angle to be properly in line with forearms, it also put my eyes directly over the ball, which caused me to aim too far left. I found I needed to have my eyes a little further away from the ball (“inside”) for my aim line at address to look straight and be accurate. So I flattened things about a bit using 70 deg lie instead and my putting has improved. I may also try a longer 72 deg shaft to see if I can accomplish the same thing.
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 2 күн бұрын
Aim bias is a result of the golfer not understanding what leads to properly aiming the putter face perpendicular to the intended start line. The vertical position of the eyes has little to nothing to do with the proprioception required to accomplish that. Many say inside the target line is ok but say outside is not yet there isn’t a difference between the two and they’re both irrelevant.
@golfsh00ter
@golfsh00ter 2 күн бұрын
@ Maybe aim bias is the wrong term. How someone perceives what their correct aim is - is not irrelevant. The more my eyes are directly over the ball the more I perceive the correct target line to look like it’s a bit left of the actual target. When I stand a bit more away moving my eyes more inside the ball, the more my perception of the correct aim line and the actually correct aim line are both in sync properly towards the target. Diagnosing this was huge for me, and I have proved this with the same exact putter head with two different shafts. Both are the same lengths, but one is at 72 deg lie angle (putting my eyes directly over the ball where my perception of the correct line looked left of the target), and one at 70 (where perception and actual are in sync).

You show the forearm angle in the anatomical position with elbow extended. This angle actually decreases when you pronate to grip the putter with a slightly flexed elbow.
@Thegolfparadigm

Why would it decrease when taking hold of the club? The angle between the forearm and upper arm can remain the same even if the forearm was torqued thru pronation/supination

First off, there need to be more like yourself that not only reply but do this for more than just self-gratitude. The video is very informational, and I'm sure everyone appreciates it. However, now I have a question, and I hope you can answer it for me. My daughter is just getting into the swing of things with golf, and she measured 24 inches flat. The clubs she has are mismatched, so I don't know that I can find the sheets on all of them without doing an extensive amount of work. What is the best route, or do I have to look up every club to see what the original length is and see if it's still that length?
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 14 күн бұрын
Appreciate you watching and input. To answer your question you don’t need to look up all the different lengths. Her 6 iron (or bc of all new stronger lofts this maybe distorted so we’ve adjusted it to be the club that is 32 degrees of loft +/- a degree) length would be 36”. You would keep 1/2” between clubs until the PW then drop 1/4” to the gap wedge. You can also keep the GW, SW, and LW the same length if you like since they are more about precision in a short range of distance than full swing distances. Hopefully this helps and provides direction.

Great video - thanks! It looks like you have a 58 or 60 degree wedge - is that correct? Do the gate calculations change depending on what wedge you are using? I'm guessing not since the key criteria is launch angle so it would just be a matter of how much you de-loft each particular club? Distance is thereby controlled by swing speed, correct?
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 18 күн бұрын
Thank you. We used a 60 degree in this video. The calculations wouldn’t change bc you’re looking for a launch window of 30 degrees or less but spin has to be maintained too. You can’t simply aim for one while sacrificing the other. Keep those two metrics in mind or as something to shoot for. When Jon Sinclair did his tests of the best short games on the PGAT he found the ideal launch and spin characteristics fit into this window. Dr Rob Neal found the same. But the clubs used by players varied.

Hello, Miura irons normally have at least a 4 year life cycle. The TC-201 irons, released in Jan. 2020, will be updated to the TC-202's this year (5 years). The KM-700's will not be updated this year and I would not be surprised to see the KM-700's go past a 4 year cycle. Miura is even going to make more 1957 Baby Blades later this year, that model goes back ~ 15 years. Thanks, Chip

Golf is about using your strength and explosivity to spin a club around your body and launch a ball as far as possible. It seems extremely obvious that using illegal drugs to, improve recovery after long training sessions, to increase muscle mass and explosivity, to deal with stress and pressure, would be EXTREMELY beneficial and perhaps even exponential. I wouldn't be surprised if you would gain 50 yards. Common sense would say that they are ALL doing it.

Know this video is 4yrs old, but I found it because I’m considering a change. I’m a left handed golfer that’s left eye dominant. I recently tried putting right handed, with a cross handed grip, and felt really good doing it. Do you think there’s an advantage to having your dominant eye, be the lead eye, when putting? Maybe it led me to having a better setup, but I truly felt it helped my stroke because I could see my line better when over my putt. Thoughts?
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 3 ай бұрын
Lead side dominant eye putters sometimes putt better but it’s not because of eye dominance. It’s more because the head doesn’t have to swivel as much to view the hole. When rear eyed dominant putters swivel AND keep the head rotated to allow the trail eye to continually see the target they often open the shoulders in that process and therein lies their issue. Rear eye dominant would be ok if the golfer realized after swiveling to see the hole they return the head and shoulders to square (to the target line) prior to making their stroke.

What about swing weight - will you need to add more weight if you shorten your driver?
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 3 ай бұрын
You can. Some of that solution will come from where you cut the shaft to shorten it. Cut it only from the butt end and you will definitely lighten both the weight, swing weight and feel. Cut from the butt end and tip, keeping the balance the same and you will lighten the overall weight, swing weight by some bit not as much as only butt cutting, but the feel weight (how it feels to you during the swing) won’t drop as much. Also keep in mind you will swing a lighter club faster so any distance shortfalls due to the shorter lever can be made up with more speed. This is player dependent and applies differently to everyone. Fun part is experimenting which works for you.

Absolute nonsense there are so many variables in human anatomy that undermine this theory if someone of 5’8” were playing with a lie angle of 76 degrees the shaft would need to be cut to around 30” to get over the ball with the sole of the putter on the ground without the butt end sticking in your gut.

What would be a good length for a 5ft 5 golder
@Thegolfparadigm
@Thegolfparadigm 3 ай бұрын
That depends since length isn’t determined by height. If you’re having trouble finding the center of the driver face and with direction start by gripping down to the 44.5” range and even mark it with athletic tape so you don’t forget. As you adjust experiment by increasing the length by half inch increments. When you reach a point you’re losing control and even distance go back down. Part of the fun is the experimenting to find your sweet spot. You may even find at a shorter length driver you hit it longer as you find the sweet spot more often.

We did a follow up to this video too explaining it’s not mandatory to go so upright and what would be required to eliminate vertical torque if you didn’t want an upright putter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJKbYpina9drgs0si=EE9CRvsN8wZwNwMa

Adam’s and Rowles have clarified the posting system somewhat to say that it’s a function of how early the golfer gets their weight back on their lead foot. So a front post golfer will get or start getting their weight back on the lead foot earlier in the backswing.
