it is so refreshing to hear REAL drums without any samples and bull shit overdone processing on them. I can't stand how alot of modern metal bands sound. You might as well have the computer write the music too. But this is great and these Lauten drum mics sound fuckin sick.

Man I can’t decide between this and the Clarion. My budget says Clarion but I love the versatility this mic offers.

On the preferring the whole kit sound. I've noticed that engineers like yourself often the che's special is the choice of snare & hats. Combined with the choice of overhead setup, room + room mics. Often the boss-level mics are dedicated to those roles (C12, U47/U67, Coles, AEA). Kick, snare, tom seems to be a bit more common in approach. Usually it's one of a handful of variations of mics in similar positions. But the difference is, home recordists don't have access to a snare and cymbal library, a lovely sounding large room or those high-end room mics. A decent close mic sound is cheaper / easier to achieve in a so so room. Which then sort of led to a close mic'd becoming the common drum sound for DiY home recorded indie music of the past 20 years. Then if you need the large studio drum room sound, might be better to go to a great studio.

Ive always liked drums that ring. An accoustic kit sounds great the way it is. I hate when engineers take all ring out with yhe idea" well add it later". Record it like an accoustic guitar. Let it sound how it sounds naturally

This video is just silly. To begin with, as much as I love Metallica, the drum sound was TERRIBLE and the overall production was barely listenable on albums 1-4, so they had a very VERY low bar to surpass on the Black Album. Secondly, to be drooling over how unbelievable that kit sounds and to stand there shaking their heads going "wow", like they are all 15 years old? Come on. ALL Gretsch kits sound better than the Tama kits Lars was playing and likely recording on. To get a great drum sound with that kit, in what is obviously a great sounding, gigantic room with a super high ceiling, anyone could do. No disrespect to the decades of experience, but it's like Ross said: Not Much To Do Here. The Black Album was not seminal, it was polarizing. Master Of Puppets was and is, seminal; the Black Album is in no way Metallica's best album, it's just the one that made them a household name and got them airplay on regular rotation and not after midnight. or on Headbanger's Ball on MTV. And, it's the first album they did that engineering and production wasn't complete shite. I would give the sound of the record a "Very Good". But the real issue for me is, when I listen to Motley Crue's Dr Feelgood album, it's the same drum sound. So even if Lars' drum sound sucked on the first 4 albums, it was HIS drum sound, not Bob Rock's. At least it was unique, and you could tell instantly that it was Lars- the terrible, boxy, non musical sound of his kit- at least it was recognizable as him. I can't even imagine how PISSED Tama Drums must have been for Lars to come out of the closet and say, "yeah, Ross hooked me up with a killer old Gretsch kit. That's how I got the most massive drum sound of my career" in Modern Drummer magazine. That was what we (every drummer in San Diego) were talking about at the drum shop I worked at when the album came out.

Hello Lauten Audio, I hope you read this message. For weeks now I have been devouring all the content on the internet about your microphones and I am in love with them. I'm from Brazil and here we are facing a major economic crisis and recently I had to sell one of my work tools, a Neumann TLM 107. Unfortunately Lauten Audio is not present in Brazil and due to the current import taxes on foreign products we are no longer managing to import anything. Continue producing these magnificent microphones, you are to be congratulated, you deserve applause for all the care and respect you show with the unique microphones you have produced. One day I will have a Lauten Audio 357. A big hug to everyone at Lauten Audio who are creating true works of art! Long life!!!

We are so glad to hear you are enjoying the videos and so sorry to hear about the economic difficulties you are facing. We do hope to eventually have distribution in Brazil. We have just struggled to find a distributor there. Please feel free to reach out directly to us if you have questions and we hope to have more content on the way very soon.

Thank you very much for responding to me. As I said, I'm a fan of Lauten Audio. You are producing true works of art, microphones that are already making history. Balanced sound and unique timbres. Keep gracing us with your microphones. I hope they find a serious representative in Brazil as soon as possible! I'm already saving up to buy my Lauten 357! Long live, Lauten Audio!

Who provides the mic's, the studio? The producer? Drum Doc?
@OneOnOneRecording
@OneOnOneRecording Ай бұрын
Well for this video, since it's shot by and for Lauten Audio, Lauten provided the mics. One of the goals here was to showcase their new TOM MIC, as well as their SNARE MIC and other mics in their product line. Typically, studios have mic collections that are available for use when booking the room, and One On One does have about 200 microphones, including almost all of the Lauten lineup. The producer and/or engineer (and maybe even the artist) might also have a personal collection, and they may bring a few select pieces that they want to use on a particular recording, and there are also equipment rental companies that can be called to bring in mics for a session as well. Drum Doctors only rent out drum kits and percussion, so they wouldn't be providing microphones.

IKR. And these mics have a 100% to 400% mark up over the Audix D2's D4's, EV ND-44's & 46, sE;s & Sure 57's . I might still buy a Snare & Tom mic just to see what the fuss is all about😛 . Wait till I tell my old lady I just spent $800 bucks on 2 mic's lol (I'm not even an Audio engineer) 😂🤣😂
