Wow lovely that's awesome. I'm debating between green or blue tree monitor. What's the best stuff to put at the bottom of cage and what's the best lighting and heat lamp for these guys thanks
@erickperez87704 ай бұрын
Hey man, is there anyway other than social media where we can contact you? I wanted to see if you could share with me how you did the hanging heat lamp fixture for heating the bottom of the enclosure. I'm going to be doing a huge build soon and I wanna do what you did since it seems you've had success with it. Unfortunately I only have KZbin lol

roughly how much does it cost to make/maintain one of these enclosures, if your ok with sharing.
@FatherBlue6 ай бұрын
Depends! I’m lucky enough to own all my own tools to make these guys! 1st off the biggest cost is the glass. Costing about 150-200$ for that alone. Then the enclosure can cost anywhere from 200-500$ in materials to make it all water proof and safe from rot. Then if ya build it on a moveable stand that also add to to. If I did this all over again I could possibly build one for about 500$ bare bones just a cage with no fixtures. If I was building it out with fake walls etc, it would double in cost easily. I personally invested about 3500-4500$ in all of these guys. And I’m always building more and upgrading them some how 😅

Just discovered your content for the first time and I am ECSTATIC!! I can't believe there's a whole channel dedicated to blue tree monitors! They're my favorite reptile hands-down, maybe even one of my favorite animals of all time, and it's a huge goal of mine to start keeping them at some point. I'm thinking that I might have to make a secondary goal of meeting you, and getting your advice on how to give these critters the best life possible! Lol

Where do you get your branches? Do you cut them yourself? I done that before but my branches molded. With the high levels of humidity needed for these lizards how do you go about keeping the branches mold free?

Did you buy captive or imports?
@FatherBlue9 ай бұрын
These are imports, this particular female has been with me for 3 years, and was in captivity for 3 years prior that I know. Same as the male. It’s definitely been a long road coming!

Do you treat your monitors for internal parasites or do you leave them be? Just trying to figure it out I heard it’s better to leave them alone if they are doing fine?

Yo bro! Loving the channel brotha✊🏻 I just got a new pair of prasinus and they are slightly underweight. I have been offering a variety of insects, quail eggs and chicken hearts and they only seem to eat chicken hearts. I do trim all the fat off but I know they need the variety and I am a bit worried they are only eating that. Any advice of how to get them to eat more variety bro? Any advice would be amazing thanks soo much brotha🙏🏼

Thanks for sharing your journey, I was able to build an 8×2×6' enclosure for my Varanus prasinus (green tree) that incorporates many of the things you mentioned. I did few things differently but overall the concepts are the same, pond liner (sloped to a central collection point), thick drainage layer/ thick substrate layer (allows for high humidity without constant water removal but excess water can easily be removed), heated substrate (I used a heat cable and slate technique, my guy has no issues utilizing the bottom portion), arboreal nest box/hide (made from a large cork tube, that is partially filled with sand/coco fiber) and climbable walls (I did use Drylok but incorporated many spots of Cork bark and small ledges to encourage climbing while not filing the nails completely). Of course there's plenty of branches, hanging/suspended vertical logs...etc. I have been following your journey and it definitely helped me create what I consider an awesome environment for Chomper. Thank you 🦎💚
