Although I’m not from NY, it’s great to see someone from a city that has made the best out of his space and built something truly great. Being from a city which didn’t provide much living space myself, I’m inspired by what you’ve done and continue to do.

Thanks my man! You know it’s not easy to do this stuff in such confined places like you have to deal with in larger cities. I do the best I can with the resources I have available, and hopefully inspire others to try and do the same man! One love my man, and I appreciate the love and support !

Love the effort you’ve put into your enclosures. Blue Tree Monitors are special animals and it’s up to us as keepers to provide the best possible housing for them to thrive, great job👌

Thanks my friend! I’m doing my best and hopefully inspiring others! I do this for the animals, and all I want to do is help educate others to do the best they can with the resources they have available. That’s why I post up everything I find and do for free online for the entire world to see!

Thanks for sharing your journey, I was able to build an 8×2×6' enclosure for my Varanus prasinus (green tree) that incorporates many of the things you mentioned. I did few things differently but overall the concepts are the same, pond liner (sloped to a central collection point), thick drainage layer/ thick substrate layer (allows for high humidity without constant water removal but excess water can easily be removed), heated substrate (I used a heat cable and slate technique, my guy has no issues utilizing the bottom portion), arboreal nest box/hide (made from a large cork tube, that is partially filled with sand/coco fiber) and climbable walls (I did use Drylok but incorporated many spots of Cork bark and small ledges to encourage climbing while not filing the nails completely). Of course there's plenty of branches, hanging/suspended vertical logs...etc. I have been following your journey and it definitely helped me create what I consider an awesome environment for Chomper. Thank you 🦎💚

Awesome enclosures. It would be cool if we got an in depth video explaining how you set up that hanging lamp for heating the bottom portion of the enclosure

Wow lovely that's awesome. I'm debating between green or blue tree monitor. What's the best stuff to put at the bottom of cage and what's the best lighting and heat lamp for these guys thanks

Just discovered your content for the first time and I am ECSTATIC!! I can't believe there's a whole channel dedicated to blue tree monitors! They're my favorite reptile hands-down, maybe even one of my favorite animals of all time, and it's a huge goal of mine to start keeping them at some point. I'm thinking that I might have to make a secondary goal of meeting you, and getting your advice on how to give these critters the best life possible! Lol

Where do you get your branches? Do you cut them yourself? I done that before but my branches molded. With the high levels of humidity needed for these lizards how do you go about keeping the branches mold free?
@FatherBlue

Yeah I get them all out side. If they rot I just replace them after a while. I live in NYC so I just go scouting around to find new pieces all the time!

roughly how much does it cost to make/maintain one of these enclosures, if your ok with sharing.
@FatherBlue
@FatherBlue 4 ай бұрын
Depends! I’m lucky enough to own all my own tools to make these guys! 1st off the biggest cost is the glass. Costing about 150-200$ for that alone. Then the enclosure can cost anywhere from 200-500$ in materials to make it all water proof and safe from rot. Then if ya build it on a moveable stand that also add to to. If I did this all over again I could possibly build one for about 500$ bare bones just a cage with no fixtures. If I was building it out with fake walls etc, it would double in cost easily. I personally invested about 3500-4500$ in all of these guys. And I’m always building more and upgrading them some how 😅
