It was one of my best reading of 2024. Very emotional. In the beginning I didn't sympathize with Elsa, but she conquered me, and in the end I was just loving her! It's a sad history, but amazing. I pretend to read more of Kristin in 2025.

ATTENTION I have legions on my head and face. I found the cure! Apply CASTOR OIL on the legions every couple of days. It's really clearing it up very well. Avoid sugar and salt, get use to it. No pills, oh those are so bad Also pray and believe! 🙏🕊

Any of the old Val Lewton films are perfect for Fall/Halloween. They are so atmospheric. I watched his film Ghost Ship a while back, which is more of a dark intrigue movie than horror, and I couldn't believe how much great storytelling he did in such a short run time. Truly a master of the craft. Another atmospheric movie I don't hear much about is The Woods from 2006. Bruce Campbell makes an appearance, and they do a great job overall of recreating a believable mid century feel. The opening credits really set a mood on their own. The Woods reminded me a bit of an old AIP film that is also set in a girls' boarding school -- Blood of Dracula. It's been largely written off online as old schlock, but its got some interesting and effective moments and memorable (if not a bit funny) special makeup effects for the time. This movie, and others in the AIP lineup like How to Make a Monster, Teenage Frankenstein, and I Was a Teenage Werewolf are all a bit hokey, but also a lot of fun if you can get yourself into the mindset of the time -- when drive-in's and "Spook-a-Rama" type events were a big thing for young movie-goers.

The Me You Love in the Dark was so disappointing (such a great title though). But if you're willing to give Skottie Young another try, I recommend I Hate Fairyland. It's twisted in the most feel good way possible:)

It may not be a true horror movie but "Something Wicked This Way Comes" from 1983 is a solid movie set in the fall. It is based on the Ray Bradbury story and was made by Disney of all things. It's dark for a Disney movie and it does have a very creepy vibe going on. It has Jason Robards, Diane Ladd, Jonathan Pryce, and Pam Grier in it. Hard to find, even on physical media these days.

I listened to Artemis a couple years ago, and was disappointed in it.. I dont know what my bias was, but at first listen I was "well, that wasn't The Martian". But lately I've gone back and listened to a few books again, and I really liked it more the 2nd time thru. So my thoughts on it have pretty much flipped flopped 180 degrees.

i talk like this about movies. i think it's because i watch too many. that may exist with books too but i don't read enough to know. seems like the more we do things the less we really enjoy them? my friend used to love wine before she started learning more about it. now she complains all the time when the wine isn't up to her standards. i noticed i got like that after watching too many movies. it's like burnout but before it feels like burnout.

This is my first real book ever and i just finished reading. Took me 2 days to get through it. Since I've never read anything before I'm not sure how to feel about this book. It would've been nice if there was a distinction between the what was happening in the past and the present i don't know if that would've given the plot away but yeah.
